NEW VISA CHANGES THREAD

At a glance the changes that have occurred since the original summary are that -

Non visa entry by land or air can now be extended for 30 days for 1900 baht.
Its still the case that G7 passport holders get 30 days when entering by land whereas many other nationalities only get 15 days if they come by land border.
Authorities announced in August / September 2014 that they reserve the right to restrict the number of border runs those without visas can do. But not much evidence of this being…

Kanchanaburi in late March?

We'll by flying into Chiang Mai in Thailand for part of our trip round Southeast Asia on the 22nd of March. Our original plan was to spend a chilled week in CM and the surrounding area - being particularly drawn to the the lush, beautiful landscapes as opposed to busy city life or flat featureless plains. Unfortunately we've been reading about the crop burnings that take place at this time of year and how this could potentially ruin our trip.

We're therefore looking at a potential alternative…

Thai Bank with 30,000 baht withdrawal limit?

I've asked this question before but never really got a straight answer...

Does anyone know which Thai bank ATM's you are able to withdraw 30,000 baht from (international debit card) as opposed to the regular 20,000. I know they exist. I'll be in Ranong, Phang-Nga & Krabi, then Pai and Mae Hong Son

Has someone done such a transaction recently?
Please don't reply with a visa, mastercard or cash advance answer. - ATM ONLY - Which Bank? Does it depend on the branch?

thx

Bangkok Tourist information scam

This may be old news to people but I feel the need to warn others going to thailand.

We are a fairly savvy couple but feel like we just missed being scammed! A guy stopped us in the street and asked us why we were walking the way we were. We said we were just exploring the area and He told us we were heading to the business district and there was nothing to do there or see. He asked how long we were in thailand for and when we said a month he advised we go to the tourist authority of thailand…

So... can you recomend me any place in some island? I'm looking for some spot to chill, do yoga, quiet, friendly environment, thai massage, good food, ... And if they have ayurvedic treatments, much better.

Cheers!
