At a glance the changes that have occurred since the original summary are that -

Non visa entry by land or air can now be extended for 30 days for 1900 baht.
Its still the case that G7 passport holders get 30 days when entering by land whereas many other nationalities only get 15 days if they come by land border.
Authorities announced in August / September 2014 that they reserve the right to restrict the number of border runs those without visas can do. But not much evidence of this being…

Hello!

Husband and I are planning a trip to SE Asia (Thailand, Cambodia) OR Japan for mid-October of this year. We both actually really want to do SE Asia but are conflicted due to weather reports. Websites say October is still rainy season in Thailand - I know June July are worse - but is October not good either or does it get better by then? We're flying all the way from Canada so definitely want to be able to enjoy and do as much as we can in SE Asia which is why I'm worried if October is a…

I am staying in Chiang Mai for about a week. I have found one location to stay just outside of the old city area that is a really good price but I am told some of the streets around the area are a bit "sketchy" (interpretation by someone who lived in Chiang Mai for five years). Can someone who has recently traveled to Chiang Mai give me some feedback as to whether staying in the old town itself is really worthwhile versus just outside the walled area and walking into the city.

We will be in Chiang Mai in late November. I am intrigued by the areas further north of Chiang Mai and am considering spending a few extra days exploring that area. Can someone give me feedback as to whether it is possible to explore the area by bus, which areas they would recommend if I have three to four days to spend, whether renting a car is a better option and how roads/ driving conditions are (I have not driven in many international locations and am a bit nervous about it). Another…

My partner and me are going to Bangkok in middle of August and we are looking for a place to stay for a few days.

We are enjoying typical hostel atmosphere and connecting with other travellers, but want a double room for ourselves to get some privacy when wanted.
While we are looking forward to the nightlife in Bangkok, the party does not need to start in the hostel with drinking shots while playing Jenga or such kind. We are both around 30 and can play it relaxed as well.

To conclude, my…

We are looking for another island (or a couple of islands) to visit after spending a week in Koh Lanta. Generally we prefer quiet, laid back islands with beaufiful beaches and one us is particularly keen on going somewhere with good snorkelling since Koh Lanta is not so great for that. We have 1 spare week before we have to be back in Bangkok for our flight home. We've been to Koh Ngai and Koh Kradan before and loved the beaches there - we are considering going back to one of them although they…
