Lonely Planet review for Greek Club
A popular expat hang-out, especially on weekend evenings; it has free movies on Sunday afternoon, good pizza and a lively sports bar.

The Greek Club has now closed down. I was in Arusha for five months recently and wanted to watch some rugby.
I went to Njiro instead to the Players Bar and also to TGT rugby Club to watch the games. Both are highly recommended places - try their nachos!!!

Dirty, Empty and Rude

We stayed in Arusha for 2 nights before Safari and had heard about the Greek Club. Expecting great things we arrived to find an old, run down, derelict looking building. Inside were old locals, watching big tv screens showing sport. There was no bar atmosphere and in fact we were even charged a cover for entering by the dubious doorman - no doubt scouting for tourists, as I didn’t see any locals paying the cover. Once inside we ordered food, mostly Italian (not Greek). The food was tasty, but expensive for what was essentially a microwave dinner. When we came to pay the bill, we were over charged and asked to speak to the Manager. After the manager came out, she walked straight past us to speak to some other local guests for 10 minutes whilst we stood waiting for her; when she finally bothered to come speak with us (her a local westerner) she informed us we could take it or leave it, and she had no interest in sorting out our grievance.
Essentially, any place that capitalizes in the transient nature of our guests - with no concern for repeat business only profit get the thumbs down from me - stay in your hotel or go to one of the many other local establishments - of which there are many... -
