It's super last minute but... if anyone if planning a group safari from Arusha around 6th July, I'm looking for a group to join for 5 days or so (budget camping). I've already emailed a few operators, some got back to me that they don't have any availability. If worst comes to worst I'll have to try and sort something out when I arrive.
Is it easy to find a tour group in Arusha? If anyone has experience of just showing up and finding a tour on the day, advice would be most appreciated!
I want to share my experience about the shortest route from Masai Mara to Serengeti by road, via Tarime, and Lamai Gate (Serengeti). This is also helpful to thos who are coming from western Tanzania, or Kenya or Uganda, to enter Serengeti in he lamai wedge, which is one of the most remote and wild areas of Serengeti.
From Masai mara, oloololo gate, take a reasonable maram road to Migori. around 2,5hrs. Pass the border at Migori / Isebania. plan 1hr papeworks with your own car. Make sure…
I know it is possible to take a boat to Kilindoni from Nyamisati and Kisiju (at least). I would appreciate all experiences on this. Which one is more reliable or faster option? How rough is the sea at the beginning of October?
I've understood that it's also possible to travel from Kilindoni to Kilwa Kivinje by boat. Any comments on this?
Thanks in advance!
I'm looking for a little bit of advice, I'm currently volunteering in Kisumu, Kenya and I'm trying to form a plan to travel overland from Kisumu down to Zanzibar, in August.
So, firstly has anyone got any advice about how to get from to Kisumu to the Tanzanian boarder and then cheaply down to Zanizibar - my original idea was to travel on matatus (and the Tanazian version) down to Dar es salaam, but I have a friend who lived in Tanzania who suggested I get a more established bus…
Hi all; on 25th July my friend and I conducting Mt.Kilimanjaro Trekking via Marangu route 6 days, we have gathered the information from different sources and we discovered that there are many different Company that provides the same services but we satisfied with KILISA TOURS & SAFARIS.It seems to be good Company and what we learn is that to climb in a group it reduces cost because we share on paying the team in general( Guides, cook, and porters). So if there is any one who plan to Climb Kili on…
I have three weeks off at the end of August and first week of September, and I'm contemplating a trip to East Africa. (Tibet is the other leading contender.) My girlfriend will join me after the first week, i.e., for the latter two weeks, so that complicates planning some.
So far, I think there are 4 main things I'd like to do: (1) visit my very good friend's extended family in Nairobi (he likely can't come); (2) climb Mt. Kilimanjaro; (3) tour Masai Mara / Serengeti; (4) see Lake…
I have some questions about roadtripping through different countries that I couldn't find in the search.
- What is the average price of a 4x4 to rent? I keep hearing/reading different prices that are way off from each other.
- If you rent a 4x4 in one country, i.e. Tanzania - and then drive through to lets say Zambia or Botswana or wherever, can you drop the car off there or do you have to double back and drive back to Tanzania to return it? Are there companies that have drop offs in different…
During my trip to Tanzania I am planning a short hike in the Usambaras Mountains. As far as I read Lushoto is the place to be for that. Although it sounds very touristic - with many operators. Is there another place from where one can do the hiking?
Am planning a trip to Tanzania. Will travel around by public means.
Can anyone give me some suggestions of nice (budget) places to stay? Looking for kind of budget (not too expensive) places, not too much tourist scenes, with a local atmosphere in:
Dar es Salaam
Lushoto (or environment)
Thanx for any reply, suggestion.
I plan on travelling from Dar es Salaam to Kapiri Mposhi on the 2nd of August. I tried contacting the guy via Tazara and never get a response. Am I being to anal trying to book so early?
I'm not spending any time prior to the 2nd in Dar es Salaam, I'm gonna be in Zanzibar, so I can't go book it a week in advance. Will I be able to book a ticket through a travel agent in Zanzibar?
It seems like such an amazing journey, I don't want to mess this up. Does anyone have any advice?
