Two of us would like to travel from Dushanbe to Bishkek during June 18 - 24 for 7 days next year would appreciate some advice on planning the trip:
- If you guys could suggest which route to take / itinerary that would be fabulous; we just need to be at Bishkek by June 25 before start of another group tour.
- We are undecided whether to go via Wakhan Corridor - is the region considered safe to travel? Would we have enough time to get there during the tour?
- It will be Ramadan in…

A friend and I are arriving in Dashanbe in late September with and plan to do the Pamir Highway road trip to Osh. We've emailed a # of agencies for quotes for a 6-7 day tour from Khorog to Osh but they all seem significantly higher than the prices I'm seeing on this forum - the range I've been offered is from about $550 / person to $1500 / person.
1) What is a typical price for a 6-7 day trip from Khorog to Osh for 2 people - safe, sturdy vehicle and a driver/guide who speaks at least some…
I am planning to visit Tajikistan (may be India> Kyrgyzstan> Tajikistan) next year. Being an Indian, I need to arrange Letter of Interest(LoI) and a covering letter to get Tourist visa.
I have exchanged email with David of StansTours. He has advised me to take services from him (in order to get the Tajikistan LoI) but the cost of such services is expensive to backpacker and solo traveller like me. So, I am looking to arrange the LoI independently, if possible.
Has anyone good sources of…
Just back from Pamir (august 2016) a few feedbacks:
first: the area is amazing.
Afghan / Tadjick weekly bazaar have been closed for at least one year due to political unrest.
Qolma pass (AKA Kulma Pass) is still closed to foreigner
Dushambe-Khorog: costed us 80€ for two person. There was two more passengers + a heavy vodka loads wich made the entire journey very long (almost 20h including a short 2 hour nap stop)
Khorog-Murgab: a jeep (ok for max 5 pax) for the Whakhan valley costed…
I have around a week to spare in Tajikistan in late September on my Central Asia trip this fall. I don't think I have enough time to fully explore the Pamirs, so I'm thinking of spending my time in the Fann mountains, hopefully exploring some of those beautiful lakes up there.
I am travelling solo, and I'm wondering how to arrange this. Not sure if I dare just heading up into the mountains by myself, so I'd rather join a group or at least find a guide. I've found several tours online…
I'm planning to make Pamir highway trip hiring the 4WD with the driver in early September.
Dushanbe-Osh or opposite. Could be great if somebody join me.

Hello fellow travellers
We are planning a stop in Istaravshan in the next couple of days; does anyone know of any accommodation there. As I have limited eyesight, poor hearing and people rarely understand what I say, I would really like to find out what is available before I get there. I can't find anything on any of the accommodation booking sites.
Is it worth stopping there overnight? We are en route to Dushanbe and don't wish to arrive there late in the evening.
If someone has stopped there…
