Hi, just after ideas of what to see & do with toddlers for a week in Taiwan -what area in Taipei is most convenient to stay?(?Zhongzheng?) We want to spend a few nights away from the city -what areas north and south have sites of interest for families? (Flora/fauna, mountains) Not so interested in beaches as live at a beautiful one;) Thanks:)
Is it easy to find good standard accommodation in main tourist places around taiwan? When it was just the 2 of us we didn't think twice just to go back packing around Asia with no bookings, but now with a toddler in tow I am having some reservation.

We are planning to split our vacation in Oct 2015 and spend around 5-6 days in Taipei and then fly to Bali. First I thought about doing a bus tour through Taiwan in these 5-6 days but as I read more about Taipei and Taiwan I think we will need those days only for Taipei as I do not want to hurry from sight to sight.
I'd appreciate your tipps which sights we have to visit and which aren't worth going there. Hotel recommendations would also be great (3-4 stars, located near the MRT).
Hey everyone, I am planning on flying into Taiwan on the 2nd of June and spending a few days there, then hopefully heading over to China for two weeks or so then coming back to Taiwan. I am looking for the most cost effective option for my girlfriend and I to get to China and back. I was thinking taking a ferry would be a great way to do it, but after reading about the ferries between the two, I have gotten mixed answers with people saying that foreigners can't take the ferries. Is this true? If…
Good Morning : )
We have about a 24-hour overnight in Taipei, Taiwan on our return from Indonesia ... I checked on Visa Central and surprised that it does not require a visa. We're to US residents.
Can I double check with someone on here please? We will have an overnight and full day there, basically just need a 24-hour visa to visit Taipai ... Is this possible for certain?
Thanks for your time & input
Hi all: I'm a pretty low-key hiker, planning my first trip to Taiwan this December. I was hoping to do a day hike on the publicly-accessible part of the Walami Trail, as well as low-key day hiking in Taroko Gorge and the Zhiben Forest Recreation Area.
Question: Will my (fairly sturdy) Adidas sneakers be adequate for this? I have hiking boots, but I'd really prefer not to bring them as they're bulky and heavy, I'll be backpacking, and I'll be spending most of the rest of my time in cities.
