Where to rent Taiwan Traditional Costumes

We want to know where we can rent or borrow Traditional costumes for pictorials n Taipei.

I believe that in Seoul they have a Hanbok Experience. Does Taiwan have a similar venue/facility too?

Thank you in advance

Taiwan to China (roundtrip)

Hey everyone, I am planning on flying into Taiwan on the 2nd of June and spending a few days there, then hopefully heading over to China for two weeks or so then coming back to Taiwan. I am looking for the most cost effective option for my girlfriend and I to get to China and back. I was thinking taking a ferry would be a great way to do it, but after reading about the ferries between the two, I have gotten mixed answers with people saying that foreigners can't take the ferries. Is this true? If…

Double checking ... Visa needed for a 24 hour transit into Twain for a US resident??

Good Morning : )

We have about a 24-hour overnight in Taipei, Taiwan on our return from Indonesia ... I checked on Visa Central and surprised that it does not require a visa. We're to US residents.
Can I double check with someone on here please? We will have an overnight and full day there, basically just need a 24-hour visa to visit Taipai ... Is this possible for certain?

Thanks for your time & input

Footwear for Walami Trail day hike?

Hi all: I'm a pretty low-key hiker, planning my first trip to Taiwan this December. I was hoping to do a day hike on the publicly-accessible part of the Walami Trail, as well as low-key day hiking in Taroko Gorge and the Zhiben Forest Recreation Area.

Question: Will my (fairly sturdy) Adidas sneakers be adequate for this? I have hiking boots, but I'd really prefer not to bring them as they're bulky and heavy, I'll be backpacking, and I'll be spending most of the rest of my time in cities.

As…

Taiwan in Mid January 14 Days with 4 year old kid - Lots of questions

Hi there we will be in Taiwan for a 14 day trip in mid January 2015 and plan to circumnavigate the island. I've yet to sort through and itinerary but I am hoping you knowledgable people out there will help me with some of the practicalities that I can't seem to find much advice on, and yet are things tourists really need to know. We are Aussies and very well travelled with Taiwan being our 66th country. I'll post later about an itinerary but just wanted to ask the following questions first.

Do…

Animal rescue shelters outside of Taipei?

Hi. I'd like to volunteer at some animal shelters anywhere in Taiwan. Apart from those in Taipei, does anyone know of other rescue groups that have shelters to volunteer at? Thanks very much.

Volunteering in Taipei need cheap accomm

Hi. I'll be volunteering with 'Animals Taiwan' in Taipei around late Jan - late Feb. The address is: No. 3, Lane 24, Zhoumei Street, Beitou.

I'm getting the feeling it's an unrealistic plan, but I'm hoping to find a single room (private or shared bathroom)for under 750 TWD (USD $25) in Taiepei. I plan to volunteer most days for about 2 weeks, so I'd prefer accommodation nearby to the rescue shelter. Though I hear it's pretty easy to get around the city via MRT. I'm told to reach the animal…

Still wondering where to stay in Taipei AND What/When/Where things happen during Chinese New Year

Hi all,

Coming in from February 16th to 24th and looking to find a good area near some nightlife. I know the metro can get us around pretty well but would like to stay in a convenient area.

I'm also wondering what, when and where things happen during the Chinese New Year?

My girl doesn't mind spending a few extra bucks for a hotel so if there is a good area you can advise with some details, that would be great.

We like pubs/bars/night-markets, etc.

Thanks!

Scooter Rental

Hello fellow TTers,

I wonder how difficult it is for a foreigner to hire a scooter in Taiwan? My UK licence (without motorcycle rating) allows me to ride a small scooters of up to 50cc. And I intend to apply for an Int'l Driving Permit before leaving the country.

I know scooter rental is very popular in and around Sun Moon Lake.

It would be best if anyone can quote past personal experience especially successful ones. Info on which city/area and which company you had success would be very…
