This will be my first time traveling solo (!) and also my first time in Asia in about a decade (!!), so understandably, I'm very excited!

It looks like I will be in Taiwan from 12/3-12/13 (arriving late and departing early), which effectively gives me 9 days. So far, this is a rough notion of where I'd like to go and places I'd like to see. Please feel free to chime in with any tips (for food! for ceramics! for tea! for day trips! for lovely spaces run by lovely people! fun…

Hi, my wife and I are travelling to Taiwan from 11 Nov to 18 Nov 2016. Would like some advice on the following itinerary for Taichung:

11 nov
0530 arrived taoyuan airport
0700 buy airport plan prepaid sim at Chunghwa telecom (how long will the purchase take?)
0810 take hsr to taichung, (is this timing too rush considering the fact we still need take shuttle bus to the hsr station? or should we take the 0834 timing?)

Hi, we are going to travel in Taiwan for a few days. I was considering renting a small motorbike, can I do so with my B Dutch driving license and the international license?
What is the best website for doing that (if there is any)?

Is it actually too rainy for that and much better to get a car? But I saw prices are quite high ;(

Thanks in advance,
V.

Hi everyone,
I've decided after much consideration to trek around Taiwan for a month. I am aware that most of the hiking trails only last around a couple days, hence I will be trekking multiple separate trails and camping along the way. I will be landing in Taipei, so I was wondering if someone could furnish me with a rough route as to where would be good a place to start and finish as well with what trails to hit along the way.

Tips and comments would be much appreciated, Thank You

What can we do in Taipei with a 3 months and a 2 year old - worth going (for us:) )?
We live in Hanoi and it would not be that far.

I'm planning a trip to Taiwan soon. In December (so I understand it's low season). And will be looking for the cheapest accommodation possible. Either dorm beds or very basic single rooms.

What sort of costs am I looking at? I have found rooms on the web with prices around$30 for very basic rooms. Dorm beds are cheaper. Is that about right and if so how plentiful are these types of rooms around the country?

Is Taipei the most expensive when it comes to rooms?

Thanks

Hi, I´m gonna rent a car in Taiwan and travel around the island. Can anyone share some experience about refuelling in Taiwan? Is it more like in Europe or USA? - pay or refuel first?? Do I need to be aware of refuelling petrol (gas) or diesel? (Do they have diesel cars in Taiwan???) What is the cost of petrol there? Thank you very much. Katka

Hi:
I'm going to Taiwan in November, and I've read about what sounds like great snorkeling spots: Orchid and Green Islands, in particular. Someone based in Taiwan said it would be too cold then, but thinking it's below the Tropic of Cancer, wondering how true this is. Many thanks for advice from anyone with experience.

Hello,

I have a short layover in Taipei, from 5:00 until 10:00 in the morning. Is this too early or too short to leave the airport? If so, any suggestions on restaurants or things to see within the airport? If it is enough time to leave the airport, what's the best itinerary?

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi, I will be solo traveling in Taiwan this October and I'm looking for ideas for day hikes I can do alone.

I'm looking more for specific routes rather than general names like "Taroko" (it's a huge place!)

thanks!
