This new hot-spring resort is tops in every way, from the outdoor co-ed pools offering varying temperatures for soaking (with amazing views of Yangmingshan to the south and Jinshan and the Taiwan Strait to the north), to the semi-enclosed sex-separated multi-temperature pools. All this makes Calla especially worth the trip, but what puts the resort over the top is its restaurant, with an excellent chef who excels at creating Japanese/Chinese/Western fusion dishes that may well be one of the culinary highlights of your Taiwan experience. Though you can come here just for a soak (or spend the night for that matter; check the website for Calla's various package deals), the best bet here is to come early evening for the meal-and-soak special (NT$800 per person, NT$900 on weekends), which entitles you to an amazing six-course meal and full bathing privileges. Calla is on the main Yangmingshan/Jinshan Rd, about 4km past the Ma Cao Hot Springs turn-off.
