A design that can't decide if it's English country inn, or garish KTV parlour may not bring you happiness, but the large rooms, comfy beds, and softly lit interiors will at least bring you a good night's sleep. And the price won't do you any harm either.
Okay, there's some plain quirky choices at this place. Fake fireplaces in the bedrooms? Gold faucets in the bathroom but no shower curtains, and small baths? It's all very odd. But you know what? The furnishings are mostly good quality wood and marble, the staff are professional, and the price is excellent for this level of hotel. Deluxe rooms are only a few hundred more than the standard but have wooden floors, noticeably more living space and Jacuzzis. The hotel is situated down a quiet alley in a neighbourhood that, in general, has busy streets but wide, uncrowded sidewalks. You can actually stroll around the area comfortably, something not always possible on the scooter, stall, vendor infested streets of Taipei.
