I am taking an 11-day trip to Taiwan in about a month. I am planning this last minute and would love some advice on sample itineraries! I am most interested in getting outside: hiking, cycling, seeing the hot springs, etc. Thanks for the help fellow travel lovers!
Me and my family had horrible experience staying in this hotel. Firstly, the customer service was really bad, and very unprofessional. The hosts were rude and yelled at us while we were trying to understand the trips and things they upsell to us. Moreover they had very bad refund policies. So we ended up paying very expensive bills. Secondly, they charged us airport transfer while it stated free airport pick-up service on their website. The location wasn't great either. The total…
We could use some help for our 2,5 week (16 days) trip to Taiwan. We're a couple, both 30 years and into culture, nature (perhaps 1 hike and hot spring?), tasting a lot of food and travelling off the beaten path.
Currently we've got this plan:
Arrival Taipei -> Direct bus to Taichung
2 days: Taichung - Visit Lukang from here
3 days: Alishan
2 days: Tainan
3 days: East Rift Valley / Coast
4 days: Taipei (incl. visit to Keelung).
What would you recommend? And does anyone have any nice tips /…
Hey all, it's a friend's birthday coming up soon as I am looking to buy him a cake. Does anyone have the name and address of any good bakeries in Taipei? Even better if in the Ximen or 101 areas.
I'm planning to do a 4 days 3 nights to Taiwan with my family in October.
Some of the place we have in mind are Taroko Gorge, Sun and Moon Lake, Jiufen and of course in Taipei.
Not sure if it would be good idea to spend a night in Taroko Gorge (Or Sun and Moon Lake) then go to the other place in the next day. Or it would be better to do a day trip from Taipei for these places. How are the transportation for these two places? Thanks.

One more question.. Anyone here experienced about camping in Taiwan? We will rent a car and travel with our tent. How is it with "free camping" in Taiwan? If I don´t want to camp in some campground.. Just to place my tent somewhere in meadow, edge of the forest, less popular beach.... Of course no national park or private estate... I appreciate any advice ;-) Thanks. Katka
Hi everyone. The latest Lonely Planet suggests that for Budget travel around Taiwan, you need at least NT$1800 per day, which based on today's rate is about $US60. Would that be considered accurate? I will travel there this November for 3 weeks, which is apparently low season, so accommodation can be cheaper. I am pretty good at eating cheaply; it is probably the accommodation which I would find the biggest expense of my budget. I don't expect transport costs to be too high and it's a pretty…
