This resort sits on a large shelf above the river valley, giving it a private feel in the madhouse that is Chihpen. Facilities include a multipool complex, restaurant, and rooms and cabins (from NT$3500 per night). To get to the hotel look for the sign a few kilometres down the main road reading 'Journey to the East'.
A few kilometres past Toyugi, up a side road to the left, sits what many consider to be the finest hotel in Chihpen, with the swankiest pools.
The Gaotai drops sharply at the southern end for expansive views over the plains. The launch site sits across from a teahouse and campground, so expect plenty of spectators. These pleasant outdoor hot springs are just a quick hop from Luye; you could walk from the Zixi Garden Lodge in about 20 minutes. At Km356 on Hwy 9, turn right and follow the signs for Hong Ye Hot Springs (the old name for this place).
