We have just returned to the UK after a very interesting journey to Syria,we stayed at a fantastic hotel in the hart of the old town Damascus, the staff were brilliant they made us so welcome it was like home from home .
During the day we walked freely around the winding narrow streets packed with local people going about there daily life one tended to forget you are in a war zone but all to often you are reminded .
As we walked through the markets we were asked into the shops given gifts and most…

Hi everyone,

I am going to be traveling to Beirut in July and I am carefully following the situation in Damascus and would love to be able to see the city for the day, obviously if the stability permits. What would the process be to obtain a visa at the Masnaa crossing, or if I have to do it beforehand? I am traveling on an American passport. If anyone in Damascus or who has been there recently could help me out I would greatly appreciate it, thanks so much!

Hello,
My situation is a little different but I really want to gain as much unbiased information as possible before possibly traveling. I am in a long distance relationship with a Syrian guy (who is currently in Syria). We are both 21 and I'm Canadian. I was trying to bring him to Canada but that's impossible right now ( I spoke to an immigration lawyer). Our only option to be together in a timely manner is marriage. He sold part of his land to get money to travel and was planning on traveling…

Just got back from Damascus, the old city is still intact and really interesting to look at, bear in mind it's a war zone so there are checkpoints all over the city whether you're walking or in a vehicle. The person that helped me out securing a visa was Mohammed, he works as a tour guide and he's really good person, we walked around Damascus for a few hours while he was explaining to me all that we were looking at in great details,he picked a great hotel in the old town for me to stay and drove…

I'm an Asian Australian girl, currently traveling around Asia, soon to the Middle East. After reading several articles and blog posts about visiting Syria, Syria's gone to the top of my wishlist.

If possible, I wanna book my flight to go there next week!

My main problems:
1. Visa
- getting mixed information about getting Visa on Arrivals
2. Getting to Syria (Booking a flight)
- flights…

Hi there,

I plan to take a day trip to Damascus, then to Homs and Crac des Chevaliers castle.I'd like to know some recent security situation. And I'd like to know if the roads from Homs to Baalbeck and from Beirut to Damascus are safe enough to travel.

Here are my questions:
1.Please kindly suggest as whether Baalbeck-Homs Damascus-Beirut has relatively lower risk.
2.I will fully rely on public transportation in Syria.I am kind of confused as to travel from Damascus to Homs and from Homs to Crac…

Hello! I'm part of a community welcoming newly resettled Syrians. After sharing a meal at a community dinner, our table mates, a family from Damascus, invited us to dinner at their house. I'm looking for advice on how to be a polite and friendly guest! Thank you!

Does anybody know if there is a forum for people looking to go to Syria and help out outside of charities?
