I'm going to Geneva in October. I have 48 hours and would like to do a long hard walk/run/hike up to 100 miles and involving some mountains. I'm fit (run marathons) and will be travelling solo and light with just a bivvy bag & my food.
Thanks. I have never been to Geneva before, but am familiar with the area around Annecy.

Hello and thank you to all for the forum discussions which have been very valuable as we are planning our trip. Now it is time to ask our questions… thanks in advance your insight and guidance. We will be making a circular tour through Switzerland over the course of 5.5 days from 8-Oct to 13-Oct.
Here’s our tentative itinerary below. We’d love any inputs and suggestions. We love train travel, are active, enjoy sight-seeing, hiking and outdoor activities with a bit of museums, and are…
I only have 1 weekend to visit Switzerland (23 - 25 sept) and i have the bus booking from Frankfurt to Zurich central station(23 night) and back (25 night). I will reach at about 7 am in zurich and don't want to explore zurich, but only the special places around. I like to visit picturesque places and ok with a hectic schedule since i am on a very tight budget. One thing i do plan to do is visit lucerne and Mt. titlis from there. I am planning other bits and pieces of this plan and have…
Dorms here are 5 side by side single mattresses on 2 levels for 69 Swiss francs each. Nowhere to turn around, peeling linoleum. Wish I could post a pic.
If you make a reservation and don't want to sleep with a stronger, you will be billed the full amount, anyway.
My husband and I hiked Tour du Mont Blanc and had a fabulous time. When planning our trip, I found it a bit difficult to find recommendations on point-to-point hiking for each day, accommodation suggestions and the like. I have written a series of blog posts to recap our journey and also provide assistance to others seeking to do the trip.
Please check it out and share with anyone who may find it helpful! (All TMB posts under "Destinations" in the main navigation panel.)
Please be patient with me as I have a very rough sketch of my upcoming trip to Switzerland. I would love to hear some recs on how to fill up the trip. I will be flying in and out of Zurich (Arrive AM 07 Oct, leave afternoon 17 Oct).
My interests are sightseeing, scenic towns and villages, easy/safe walks/hikes (solo female traveler), maybe some castles, fondue, chocolate. I love traveling on trains and don't mind spending time on trains to get somewhere good, even if just for a few…
Hello guys, need your advice! I'm going to ski in Lugano this december and I really dan't know how to get from airport to the resort with all this ski staff(((( Taxis really not an option for me( How do usually travel with oversized baggage?
I had planned to have Lucerne as a base for my 3 days at Switzerland - the starting days of October this year.
Now the constraints - I will be coming from Venice, reaching Milan by 9 AM. the original plan was to head to Lucerne straight and then fly out of Zurich on day4 (This ticket already booked).
The current plan:
day1: kinda free, get the feel of the city
Day2: Mt Titilis
Day3: Option open to the other mountain trips from Lucerne/ countryside day trip
But now the BO area looks so…
