Hi guys, looking for some ideas re itinerary - as never been to this part of the world before!
We have 7 days to get from London to Milan and thought we'd like to see some of Switzerland, especially the Jungfrau region. We thought we might get to Bern from London in one day, and base ourselves in Berne, then do day trips to Interlarken, Jungfrau and Grindewald, perhaps Lucerne as well. We figured on one full day train travel fro London to Bern, spend 5 nights there, then a day to get to Milan…
I have just moved to Switzerland for 6 months to complete an internship and I'm living in the Swiss-German part (St Gallen), which is an hour away from Zurich.
I am just writing to ask if any of you have any suggestions or "Must-See's" here. It would be great to here some personal advice, rather than looking on top 10 things to do, etc.
Thank you, excited for your responses :)
I have narrowed down our Itinerary I am just looking for some suggestions on what is the best Route to visit them all? Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions! (Traveling for 21 days)
I will be staying with a friend in Kaltenbach switzerland whenever possible.
here is the List:
Zurich- Day trip
Schaffhausen/RheinFall/Stein Am Rhein- Day Trip
St. Gallen/Konstanz- Day Trip
Lucerne- Day trip
Geneva/Lausanne- 1-2 nights
Montreux/Gruyeres/Trient/Sion- day trip or possibly one night?
We are a family with small kids (4 year and 1.5 year) visiting Zurich for the first time later this week. Unfortunately, two out of three days that we are visiting, it seems quite rainy and thunderstormy. So I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for things to do in that time. Museums could be nice on rainy days, but since our kinds are too small, they may not be very cooperative in museums!
Thanks in advance.
we are heading to Grindelwald and St.Moritz in the middle of august for about 8 days.
we would like to have a "base camp" and do some day-hikes. Do you know if there is needed any reservation of campground ahead?
Is there busy time in those areas? We have own car and a tent, coming from Slovenian alps and Dolomiten, so we dont want to be stuck to fixed dates if possible.
Thanks for any info
At the end of August I will have 48 hours in Geneva while on my way to Montenegro.
I really wanted to take a train journey but after looking at prices I am not sure I can afford them. Does anyone know if there are local trains that are less expensive?
Are there any must sees that are easy to get to in a few hours that I could perhaps do as a day trip from Geneva?
Also, if anyone has any unique/wonderful restaurant/cafe/market ideas I would LOVE to hear!
Thank you kindly.
Planning a trip to Swiss from 8th till 18 th oct 2016. We are from southern india and generally anything below 15 deg is cold..
What are the places we could visit? Also what options for chalet accommodation?
WE need to travel from Basel to Vienna and are considering taking the train. It's a long trip but we expect that it would be quite scenic. Has anyone done this trip by train?
The ticket with one stop leaving Basel at 9:30 am changes trains in Zurich but just has 16 minutes to change. Is it easily possible to find the Vienna train and get to the right platform in that length of time, or would that be too crazy?
