I am travelling to interlaken this weekend. We are 3 people (family). We have got swiss travel pass for the week. Which areas should I visit without spending much but still enjoy the full cost I paid for the swiss pass.
We will stay at Lauterbrunnen in late June and would like to visit Murren and Gimmelwald. I'm very confused about how cable car and bus work. What is the best way to go between these three places? The starting and finishing point are Lauterbrunnen. Are Swisspass all covered these transportations?
Moreover, we're thinking about going up to Schilthorn. Is it worth a visit? Can we combined Murren-Gimmelwald-Schilthorn trip together? In their website it does not include Gimmelwald in…
I'll be in Switzerland most of the summer on an internship (so I'll have a "home base"). I'm hoping to make it into the mountains most weekends for hiking. I'm currently waffling on bringing a tent along, as it does take up a lot of space. So I'm wondering: is it worth it to bring a tent and camp in the mountains, both to save money and to do multi-day hikes? The last time I brought a tent to Europe (Germany) it ended up not being worth it as campgrounds tended to be far outside of towns and…
Obviously I know that you can't drive to Zermatt! We are hoping to visit Zermatt for a day as part of our itinerary in a couple of weeks. Is there a good train station close to Zermatt with parking, where we can leave the cars for a few hours and catch the train to Zermatt? Any details on car parking charges very helpful!
Hi! I am spending a week in Basel in the beginning of June.
Any tips on what to see or do in Basel?
Would also appreciate tips on things to see around Basel as well. I´ve learned that Basel is in the centre where Germany, France and Switzerland meets, which must mean that there is a vibrant and diverse cultural life in the area.
Assuming an averagely relaxed pace, what is the average driving time of the St Bernards Pass (not the tunnel) from Martigny to Aosta? We will be travelling this road in early June.
My family and I will be traveling for two weeks around the Italian / Swiss lakes in July. We have five days by Lake Lugano, coming from Locarno via Bellinzona on the train and then going on to Lake Como via bus from the North side of the lake. (in other words we will be using public transport) We don't want to stay in Lugano itself, especially as part of our trip coincides with the Jazz Festival, so I'm thinking of staying either in Morcote or Gandria. We want a relaxing holiday of…
Hello, I'll arrive 7:30 and and depart 10:45 pm on a July Monday. I know the train will leave me downtown in 10 minutes - what should I do with my time? until at least 7:30 pm?
We're driving to Switzerland in the summer - a week in Lauterbrunnen and then a week in Brienz. Although we will have our own car with us, we plan to use trains and mountain transport as much as we can while we are there, partly because our kids (age 3 and 6) will love the cable cars, funiculars, chairlifts etc. Most of our daytrips will be quite local to Lauterbrunnen and Brienz. The number of travel passes available is mind-boggling, and we can't work out what will be best value for us. I know…
Hello, I am planning on doing the Tour du Mont Blanc trek on June 21st. If you're experienced in trekking, in shape, and up for an amazing and very scenic trek this is your chance!!! This is supposed to be one of the best treks in the world. I'm planning on hiking for 10 days and camping in tents most of the time. It sounds like a lot but it's actually a pretty leisurely pace for this trail. I'm doing this trek as cost efficiently as possible and the cost of food, campsite fees, etc should cost…
