Bernina express

Hey guys,

I am looking into visiting Italy & Switzerland this summer going from Milan via the Bernina express to Zurich.
My questions;
- Is the Bernina Express really nicer than the Glacier Express? (I've seen many posts and comments about this online)
- I'd like to go paragliding somewhere with a nice view of mountain - does anyone know of a place along the bernina express route?

Many thanks!

I have three full days set aside in August for my personal discovery of, in general, The Alps. I'm starting from absolute scratch, but to give you an idea of where to start, this is my "blank canvas" to work with.

Day 1: Paris to ___ (Somewhere in Switzerland)
Days 2: _____ (Alps)
Day 3: ______ (Alps)
Day 4: ______ (Alps)
Day 5: ______ (Alps) to Venice via Verona.

That is basically the layout I have to work with. So far my itinerary has become somewhat overwhelming, surprise surprise. Anyways for…

Hi! My husband and I, along with our 19 month old daughter are going on our first ever trip to Switzerland by mid July (10 days). We want to go in our own pace and not hurry through the trip, because of our tiny tot. This is our first big trip with DD, so we are yet to find out if she is a travel enthusiast or not!

We will be staying in a chalet in Wengen for 7 days and plan to make day trips to nearby places. Consciously avoiding mountain peaks like Jungfrajoch as we hear altitudes that high…

What has happened, @onyx007? What have you done with it?

I used it a few times earlier in the year and had plans to use it around now and later in the year. But it's gone! When it was launched it was supposed to be available until the end of 2016:

I’ll be visiting my sister in Spiez. We have a farm stay there but we would like to do a day trip or overnight to somewhere with public transport. Interests: cheese, cute villages, (organic) food, castles.

I’ve been two times in Switzerland before and stayed in Zürich, Luzern and Rolle (by Lake Geneva). Also visited Einsiedeln (near Luzern), Montreaux, Lausanne. My absolute favourite was Chillon Castle. My sis has only been in the farm where she is working at (and seems to love that).

We will be heading to Lake Geneva / Zermatt area for a week in early September for a honeymoon. Looking for others' thoughts on our current itinerary. We're outdoorsy people and foodies so mountains, great modern/contemporary/progressive cuisine, good wine, and adventures are our goals.

Fly into and out of Geneva.
Day 1-2: Drive to Gruyere for late lunch. Do the chocolate and cheese tours and either stay in the Lavaux/Montreaux/Lausanne/Gruyere for the night, or continue heading to Zermatt to…

The viator tour (12 hours long) is about $250, which is quite expensive. The reviews are all glowing, and I'm suspicious about their objectivity. Is viator the actual company that runs these tours? It says that viator is a part of trip advisor, and I'm wondering if they have chosen to display only the positive reviews. Has anyone here done this tour and was it worth the money?
Any comments, or suggestions for other ways to get into the Alps besides on this tour, would be appreciated…

Hi, I'm travelling alone in 2 weeks time for 1 week and wondering if it is best to fly to Geneva or Basel? I want to do some hiking/ biking in the alps - as a beginner. Which would be the best place to fly to and stay for 1 week? Are there any reasonably affordable companies that can help arrange this? I don't mind doing it on my own but it may not be the best to wander around in the alps on my own! I can't seem to find any hostels in Geneva either.. is it not common for travellers to stay…
