Now the constraints - I will be coming from Venice, reaching Milan by 9 AM. the original plan was to head to Lucerne straight and then fly out of Zurich on day4 (This ticket already booked).

The current plan:
day1: kinda free, get the feel of the city
Day2: Mt Titilis
Day3: Option open to the other mountain trips from Lucerne/ countryside day trip

But now the BO area looks so…

Recently spent the night at Balmers Hostel in Interlaken. I was joined by an unwelcomed number of bitting bugs for the evening and left with welts around my chest and legs. Hostel management were not interested in the fact their bed was infested by bugs and instead suggested it could be mosquitoes. Does anyone have the details of the Swiss authorities to which foreigners can complain about the state of local hostels. I am guessing they have a Health and Safety authority which regularly…

The normal train fare from Interlaken to Basel is 60 CHF. I may be able to buy a supersaver for 30-40 CHF, but they only go on sale 30 days before travel.

However, I can buy advance ticket from Interlaken to Karlsrue via Basel for 29 Euro on DBahn 90 days in advance.

Any reason why I cant just get the ticket from DBahn and throw the Basel to Karlsrue part of the ticket in the bin as I walk out of Basel station.?

Is there any difference in the weather in May/June between Interlaken area in the centre, MT Blanc area in the West and Dolomites area in the East.

If I'm spending a fortune to stay there I prefer the area most likely to have a good chance of sunshine.

My preference is Interlaken- which seems to be the most expensive area (although I am willing to stand corrected).

I have been to Luzern area- in a heatwave!!

I am interested in proposing to my girlfriend overlooking a very picturesque background while having a picnic. I plan to set up a camera or two to record video and still photos of the event.

We are staying near Geneva but I will have access to a car, can even fly, etc., so I'm open to any suggestions. Nothing is impossible.

I would very much appreciate any suggestions and advice on a good place to have the picnic or any other ideas.

Thank you in advance!

(My girlfriend is a huge fan of Heidi…

Hi everyone,
I plan to drive with my family from St Moritz to Chur in an early evening in mid September. From the Google map I can see mountain roads and passes and myself as a driver used to busy cities condition and highways, would feel more comfortable if I have some ideas of the condition of the roads, especially driving in a unfamiliar place in an evening. I am going to use a compact or mid- size sedan. Are they mainly winding and narrow roads? Mostly paved and well-lid? Google says 1.5…

Hey everyone,

Will have four full days, from 0800 on 21AUG to early departure on 25AUG, in Switzerland. Flying in/out of Zurich. Don't care much for the city, just want to head towards the mountains. Looking into Mt. Rigi and Pilatus, got Brunnen as a suggestion too.

I found routes off of the SBB Trains/rail Europe website. I found boat routes on SBB aswell, says "via SHIP", does this sound right? Can you easily purchase these train/boat ride tickets day of, or should it be done in advance? Is…

So I'm looking for a good medium distance hiking trail in Switzerland, or possibly Austria or Germany. I am moderately experienced, and looking for something that would take about a week, or somewhere near 100 miles would be good. The thing is, I will have additional gear with me that I will need to leave behind at a hostel because it is too heavy to hike with. Because if this, I was thinking a loop of some kind would be good so I could leave my bags at a hostel for a few days or something then…
