Lonely Planet review for Welcome India
Decorated like a true curry house with carved wooden statues and a garish mixture of black, orange and yellow, this is the best of several local Indian restaurants. The menu includes Punjabi and northern Indian specialities.

Paying good money for bad food
mslp2001 does not recommend this,
This tackily decorated Indian restaurant fails on all counts, ambience, service, food and most importantly value for money. Its an overpriced disaster from the word go. The agonizingly long wait for the food, misleads you to anticipate freshly cooked, passionately prepared Indian cusine. Imagine our dismay, shock and horror when the chicken tandoori we ordered is dry bits of chicken, sprinkled with some chilli powder and cooked in anything but a tandoor. The biryani which is a dish of delicately fragranced basmati rice, served on a bed of succlent lamb and garnished with delicate dry fruits was in this instance a blob of rice, with tomato paste. The shahi mutton was a tomato gravy that doubled for the base of most curries served there. The palak paneer, spinach with cottage cheese, was infact spinach without the cottage cheese. The much anticipated prawn curry ( house special sauce) was frozen prawns in the widely used tomato base once again.
The damage for this disastrous meal 180 CHF or 150 US dollars for 4,without alcohol.
