Lonely Planet review for Bern Historical Museum
Tapestries, diptychs and other world treasures vividly illustrate Bernese history from the Stone Age to the 20th century in the marvellous Bern Historical Museum. Part of the history museum is devoted to a superb permanent exhibition on Einstein.

Not handicap-accessible
magnoliafork does not recommend this,
Before I made the trip to visit this Historical Museum, I checked out its website to make sure that it was handicap-accessible. According to the website, it said it is accessible through an alternate entrance. However, once I got to that entrance, I saw that it was just a gravel drive up to the museum. While it might be possible to traverse this drive-way using a manual wheelchair, I was using a motorized wheelchair. The last time I tried to go across gravel in it, I got stuck, and three football players had to carry me out. Since I didn't see any football players hanging out near the entrance, I didn't want to take the chance and left dejectedly. I really wanted to see the exhibit on Einstein.
