Getting there & away
The Flygbuss (Bus 801) departs at least twice an hour between 3.15am and midnight for nearby Arlanda airport (Skr80); it leaves from outside Scandic Hotel Uplandia.
Swebus Express (0200-21 82 18; www.swebusex press.se) runs regular direct services to Stockholm (Skr65, one hour, at least hourly), Gävle (Skr120, one hour 40mins, two daily), Västerås (Skr90, 1½ hours, eight Monday to Friday, three Saturday and Sunday), Örebro (Skr200, three hours, two to four buses daily) and Falun (Skr190, 3½ hours, two Monday to Saturday, one Sunday). Svenska Buss (0771-67 67 67; www.svenskabuss.se in Swedish) also operates two services on Fridays and Sundays that call at Västerås (Skr60, 1¼ hours), Örebro (Skr120, 2½ hours) and Karlstad (Skr180, 4¼ hours).
There are frequent SJ trains to/from Stockholm (Skr49, 40 minutes). All SJ services to/from Gävle (Skr129, 50 minutes, at least seven daily), Östersund (Skr480, six hours, at least two daily) and Mora (Skr272, 3¼ hours, two daily) also stop in Uppsala.
For car hire, contact Statoil (20 91 00; Gamla Uppsalagatan 48), next to the Scandic Uppsala Nord. There are also three petrol stations with car hire, 1.5km along Vaksalagatan: OKQ8 (29 04 96; Årstagatan 5-7) often has good deals.
