I'll be in Stockholm at the end of August for 4 days, the end of three week trip including Finland, Estonia, and Russia. I've just read up on Sweden aiming to be a cashless society and the problems that tourists can face when travelling there, especially with regards to money.
Some basic information: I'm Canadian and I live in Japan. Japanese bank cards do not work internationally, and the few banks that offer those kinds of cards may or may not work abroad (I have one, tried it in…
I am doing a study abroad programme in Stockholm with my university. This means that i will be living in the city for 5 months.
Are there any experts on Stockholm around that can tell me the best things to see/do?
Or just any top tips at all?
I'll be there for a long time so I won't just want to see the touristy stuff
I am planning a trip to Sweden this summer. I will be driving from Belgium so would prefer to stay in the South, within two hours of Malmo, to limit the length of the drive.
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for campsites in this area. Ideally, I am after a beautiful location with good sanitation facilities and somewhere to swim, either the sea or a lake.
We are also very keen to see moose. Is it possible to spot wild moose this far south?
Any ideas gratefully received…
I would like to inform you about the upcoming release of the web documentary series fika: to have coffee, which might be of interest to you.
In six episodes, the series will make an attempt at portraying the popular Swedish ritual fika, a small but essential part of the country's coffee culture and day-to-day life.
Instead of following a classic documentary approach, the series intends to be more about the people and give an insight into Swedish society, it wants to tell the little…
My father and I are planning a 'bonding' trip through Sweden (please translate as 'I needed a second driver so I forced him to come with me'). This is not so much a tourism trip but rather we have to drive to Pitea to collect something and bring it home. This will mean we will be travelling with a trailer. I have done some research but just need confirmation and your expert advice.
Bridges: Considering crossing the Bridge(s)from Denmark, are they open 24h/24h? Are there any other…
This summer I'll be flying to Sweden and spending about 5 days doing 60 or so miles on the trail. I found this very helpful website http://www.hogakusten.com/en/hk/high-coast-trail.html with break downs of each trail section. I was just wondering if anyone had hiked this section of Sweden before and had any further insight. Is it mostly trail or is a lot of it along the road? Anything I should be sure not to miss as I explore this part of Sweden?
Hi, there was a really handy post last year asking about 6 days on the Kings Trail.
My question is about.......much less time than that!
If we only have 3 or 4 days, is there anything at all that we can do, or am I being ridiculous?
Also, this will be mid June, around the 15th, will any huts be open then. My research suggests "no".
thanks a lot :)
Hello folks. Does anyone know where in Oslo and Stockholm to find postings of local events? In the states,
postings would be at the library or community centers - I wonder where they might be in Norway and Sweden, in Oslo and Stockholm specifically. Local events like poetry readings, or authors reading excerpts, or local music groups, to name a few. Any advice along these lines is appreciated
Hi there - I plan to take a boat tour (Stromma cruises) to the Stockholm archipelago on June 25, and I'd like to ask those people in the know about how a boat tour might be different on mid-summer day (June 25) compared to other days. I'm considering taking a tour to Sandhamn or a shorter tour to Vaxholm or a shorter tour without a stop at all. Is it better to go to Sandhamn or Vaxholm, or better to not make a stop at all? If I stop on an island, will it be too crowded? or closed down? or just…
