I had planned to hike the Kungsleden in Sweden in July and have already got flights in/out of Stockholm. However, my boyfriend is now also coming to Sweden for 8 days. He's not as into remote multi-day hikes as I am. He is pretty fit, but doesn't relish the idea of hiking with a heavy rucksack on his back the whole time. Experience tells me that we can travel much lighter and quicker if we buy food as we go. We can be even lighter if we stay in refuges rather than camp (although I prefer…
In September, we will be spending the first part of our 10 day trip to Sweden in Stockholm. We end up at Wenngarns Castle in Situna for one night (Thursday) for a business event on Friday. That leaves us with 3 nights left (Fri, Sat & Sun) before we fly out of ARN Monday morning. Any advice on where we should go/stay for those last three nights? We will not have a car. The castle looks nice for maybe another night on Friday, but it doesn't look like there is a lot to do in that area to stay…
Here is my itinerary for our (3adults) December trip and I would appreciate very much some feed-back for the Sweden part of it, as it is not easy to figure out what is interesting and do-able in December (as every site offers summer ideas). I’m not sure about everything with boats: do the lakes freeze in December? How to you get for example to Birka?
We like city as much as nature, but Stora Karlsö in December (I love birds, but will they be there- probably no, but is it nice there anyway?)
I'm thinking about flying to Sweden to hike the Kungsleden in the end of August.
The only problem I now have is with the flight back
I will start at Abisko and end at Kvikkjokk, and I can either return to Kiruna for a flight back to Stockholm, or go to Stockholm directly.
Either way, I'm not entirely sure when exactly I'll return so I need a flexible option
The flight back is at September 11th early in the morning, so I might have to use the buses on the weekend (Friday and Saturday)
Will that be…
We are going to Sweden really soon, starting in Gothenborg ( 4 days) and then moving to the boshulan coast (6 days) then before going to Stockholm, we have 2 days left (we havent book any places), and I am not sure where we can head, between gothenborg and stockholm. We will not have a car at that time, so it will be a place to chill out or with easy train conexions. I was thinking Orebro or maybe somewhere in the coast , down from Gothenborg. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
We arrive in Stockholm from Copenhagen at 5.40 pm on 24th June - Midsummer eve
Please guide us what would be the best thing to do after checking in
As I've gathered that most of the restaurants would be shut
What would be an ideal place where we can enjoy the celebrations ? Place like Skansen might be too crowded by evening
I have finally planned my 10 day trip to Sweden and have decided on two main places for the bulk of the trip: Åre and Umeå
I have the Lonely Planet guide for Sweden and this has provided some useful tips for activities and places to eat/drink. However, I would appreciate any advice or tips from people who live there or have been before especially local places that would not necessarily be well known but really give a flavour of local culture.
I am particularly interested in any…
Despite many naysayers, i.e., taxes too high, weak individual freedoms, etc., I am an admirer of Swedish society and wish the US would learn some from Sweden. The quality of life in Sweden seems to be very good, in my judgement. I have been wondering what background/history is that has made Sweden so socially, politically, environmentally conscious as well as having a world caring view and low profile military (but I do know there is a large defense industry in Sweden). I think this…
I have booked flights out to Sweden this summer for my bf and I and am now feeling very overwhelmed trying to plan it!
We fly into Stockholm on the 22nd July and fly back from Stockholm on the 2nd August. We plan to do the city for a couple of nights before heading north.
So far my research has brought up:
We are happy to travel by sleeper train to get further north and plan on doing this to get back to Stockholm as well.
I really want…
I'm thinking about getting to Sweeden for some days in the near future, but my goal is to organize a roadtrip where the main focus is on "meeting" some traditional Swedish stuff (like the professions in this article https://story.visitsweden.com/meet-the-original-hipsters/, which was the starting point of this whole journey-idea). Usually I'm not curious about the stuff that is shown to the tourists. (I consider myself more a traveler than a tourist - yeah, I'm one of those people.)…
