Getting there & away
Småland airport (75 85 00; www.vxo-airport.se) is 9km northwest of Växjö. SAS (0770-72 77 27; www.scandinavian.net) has direct flights to Stockholm Arlanda, Stockholmsplanet (0771-71 72 00; www.stockholmsplanet.com) to Stockholm Bromma, and European Executive Express (0859-36 31 31; www.european.se) flies daily to Copenhagen. Airport bus 50 connects with flights (Skr59), otherwise take a taxi (13500).
Länstrafiken Kronoberg (0771-76 70 76; www.lanstrafikenkron.se in Swedish) runs the regional bus network, with daily buses to Halmstad, Jönköping and Kosta. Long-distance buses depart from the station, next to the train station. Svenska Buss runs one or two services daily to Eksjö (Skr180, 1½ hours), Linköping (Skr240, 3¼ hours) and Stockholm (Skr340, 6½ hours).
Växjö is served by SJ trains that run roughly hourly between Alvesta (on the main north-south line; Skr39, 15 minutes) and Kalmar (Skr143, 1¼ hours). A few trains run daily directly to Karlskrona (Skr143, 1½ hours), Malmö (Skr240, two hours) and Göteborg (Skr285, three hours).
