Lonely Planet review for Saluhallen
A mouth-watering market hall, it peddles reasonably priced grub, from fresh fish and piping-hot pasta to Thai, kebabs and croissants.

A great place for lunch and grocery shopping
experiencelund recommends this,
Here I want to share our very personal and subjective 2011/12 experiences with you:
Saluhallen is definitely the place to go! The indoor market was opened in 1909 and is located in the city enter on Mårtenstorget 1. Apart from food booths such as Alfredo’s pasta or Thai Way (perfect for lunch!), Saluhallen comprises a variety of grocery stores. Go to the great cheese seller (Osthuset) and try out the different cheese types - the staff is always willing to give you a sample. We can recommend the Tant Elsa Getost, with a light salty but also sweety butter taste. Very delicious and don’t get distracted by the stinky aroma!
For those of you who love fish, try out Malmstens fisk & kök, the fish stand at Saluhallen. It offers a variety of fresh fish and at the weekend even more exclusive products. The daily lunch is absolutely delicious, tested by us! It costs around 80-90 SEK.
If you want to try a traditional Lund ’korv’, go to Holmgrens & Company, the butcher at Saluhallen. The famous sausage is called lundaknake, a type of pork and beef knackwurst that can only be bought at Holmgrens. It has a smokey, tasty flavour – try it out yourself!
Although the products at Saluhallen are generally higher-priced, the quality, taste and service is definitely worth the money! Another benefit: A lot of products at Saluhallen are regionally sourced. Overall, Saluhallen has a traditional charm and the atmosphere is rustique and welcoming.
Cheers,
