We are traveling from the U.S. to Stockholm in June. Our U.S. cell phones won't work in Sweden. What are our options? We don't need to call internationally, but we would like to make a reservation in a restaurant or check if a museum is open.
We wondered whether it's possible to use Skype or Google Voice to make free calls to Swedish numbers while we're in Sweden? We wouldn't be calling outside Sweden.
I will be hiking Kungsleden beginning in Abisko in late June, and was wondering the best, most direct route from the airport to the trail via public transport? My flight arrives around 12:30 in the afternoon.
Can tickets be purchased on the bus, or do I need to pre-book?
It looks like I will be taking a job in Lund. Any opinions on the city? I am also interested in how easy it is to get to the Copenhagen airport -- it is my understanding this is the preferred airport for international departures/arrivals.
We (me, my husband and 2 kids 11 & 7) are going to Goteborg to pick up our car from the Volvo factory right before Midsummer Night. We are trying to figure out the best place to join a traditional public celebration. I have found the following site with information on celebrations in/around Goteborg:
However Swedish friends (from the Stockholm area) said the best thing to do would be to go to an island, but they didn't know of any specific recommendations on…
In June I am taking a cruise out of Stockholm. Before the cruise, I am going to a concert at the Friends Arena. Can someone please provide an estimated cost for a taxi to go from the port to the arena? Also, would the driver prefer plastic, Euros, or Krona?
Thanks in advance.
My Husband and I are avid hikers and plan to tackle the Kungsleden this summer. Has anyone completed the trail with their dog? Or if you've done the trail at all- would you consider it safe for dogs? Are they welcome on the boat crossings?
A couple of weeks ago we went by ferry to Stockholm, and it was cool!
I had never been to the high seas before and did not know how to lead my body and what to expect. So I was pretty nervous before the trip. And running ahead, I will say that everything went well and the sea was calm, like my body.
The ferry is of course such a thing, say, a party and no more. You can certainly try to find in this all some kind of romance, but I'm almost sure that it's vain and pointless.
We'll spending our honeymoon in the Nordics in July and are looking for a mix of relax, nature and local culture. Our trip plan includes 7 days in Sweden (+ extra days in Helsinki) and would love suggestions on what to do/see. We're open to any mean of transport and would be arriving from Copenhagen and departing to Oslo. This is the itinerary I've built so far but not sure if we're missing something interesting or making the best of our time:
Day 1: Copenhagen to Malmo (train)
We are planning a week in Stockholm in July - we are considering at least one night in the Archipelago- maybe more - we are foodies who love quaint villages and enjoying the local culture - can anybody advise the best islands and places to stay., eat etc
I'm planning on hiking some of the Kungsleden in July and am trying to book a train there and back from Stockholm. I will take the overnight to Abisko to start. I have 13 days, which is just enough time to get to Kvikkjokk (12 days from Abisko) to exit the trail via bus and catch the train at Vuollerim, but it doesn't leave much margin for error. I was wondering that if I booked a train from Gällivare, where I would meet the train if exiting via bus from Vakkotavare (8 days from Abisko) will I…
