Lonely Planet review

The town's best attractions are just outside the centre. Half a million people flock to Gamla Linköping, 7km west of the centre. One of the biggest living-museum villages in Sweden, it consists of six streets and around 90 quaint 19th-century houses. These contain about a dozen theme museums (all free, with various opening times), crafty shops and even a small chocolate factory. You can wander among the 19th-century buildings at will.
