LUGGAGE FOR LAPLAND

Hi everyone,
I'm travelling to lapland in January to do a dog sledding trip from Kiruna and then travel around Finland (I'm still working through all of the details as to where in Finland I'll be going).

My question is would it be better for me to take a backpack or am I able to use a rolling suitcase? I've done quite a bit of googling and I just can't get my head around how much snow there is in the towns up there and if its possible to drag a rolling suitcase through it? Mainly it would be…

Where to book the veolia-transport train ticket ?

Hi, gus
I'm trying to book the train ticket from Stockholm to Kiruna in Dec, 31th ,2014.
After checking the SJ website, it shows that there is no train on that day.
It is said that the Veolia-Transport also operates the same route.
But on the Veolia website: http://www.veolia-transport.se/ I didn't find any place to book the train ticket.
Can anyone tell me how to book the Veolia train ticket?
Thank you.

I hope it's OK to ask this here: anybody recognize this place?

The best view is at 2:10.
All I can find on the internet is that it's in Sweden, and I seriously WANT TO GO THERE.

New to Stockholm

Hi Guys.

I have recently moved to Stockholm, the Huddinge area, from London. And although i'm slowly exploring the city when i'm not working. I seem to be dependant on tourist advice and areas. I am 26 year old male, interested in live music, arts, good food, cheap drinks..

Any insider/local knowledge on nice cafes, restaurants, music venues or even interesting areas to explore during the day or night would be muchly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Swedish customs towards Black Travellers on Trains

Enroute from Copenhagen to Stockholm Swedish customs officicers had told me to search my luggage. I was the only Black American on the car and no White American travellers are searched. I had been travelling to Sweden for more than 20 years and this is the first. Has that happened to any other Black traveller going to Sweden via train? Hope for replies.

Basic wooden hut upnorth

Hi there,
I'm gonna have some time off around Chritsmas and just thought I could take advantage of that to go spot some northen lights. I've had a quick look at accomodation but coud only find fancy places for couples and the like, which is not what I'm looking for.
Does any of you know where and how I could find a basic wooden hut, somewhat isolated, so I could sit by the fire, cook and read for a week ?
I'd like to stay around Abisko, but Kiruna or anything north enough would do.
Thanks
Alex

VISA cards with chips--are they a necessity?

I'll be traveling soon to visit family in Gothenburg. I'm getting the idea from my brother who lives in Sweden that US credit cards without chips in them are not accepted in Sweden. Does anyone have recent experience with this?
