Introducing Spring Bay

On a quiet island, this is the quiet end. It’s a brief hop over the central spine from Port Elizabeth. Sugar plantations still operate here, and there’s good views of the often turbulent waters to the east.

Sanctuary operator Orton King’s dream of saving the hawksbill sea turtle from extinction is seeing fruition at the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary, a hatchery near the beach. Carefully raised – and fed tuna – until they’re three, the turtles are then released to repopulate the Grenadines.
