Lonely Planet review
This family-run, seven-room guest house north of town has family hospitality, good Sri Lankan food and fine views of emerald-green rice paddies. The cheapest rooms have no hot water and no views. It’s run by a gem dealer who also runs gemology courses (left), and arranges half-day trips to the gem mines and markets (Rs 1200). A three-wheeler from the bus station is Rs 70.
