  2. Traveling With Trip Advisor

    Blog: Ottsworld - 19 May 2011

I walked into the room and there it was staring back at me, frozen in place next to my suitcase. I stopped abruptly, sighed and looked carefully at its shiny black body and spindly legs. The one light bulb in the room seemed to make the big cockroach’s body shimmer even more in ickiness. I [...]

  3. The Powers of Observation

    Blog: Ottsworld - 17 May 2011

There are times in travel where you just have to ‘go with it’. You don’t really understand what’s going on around you or why and no one can really give you any answers due to the language barrier. Heck, sometimes the locals don’t even know why something is done the way it is! So those [...]

  4. Mountain Biking in Sri Lanka…Sort of

    Blog: Canada's Adventure Couple - 22 February 2010

Dave and I love to mountain bike. We hit the trails regularly in the summer and get out of the city as much as possible. It is so much fun to ride a new obstacle with success, get up the nerve to go down a steep trail and totally gratifying to conquer an epic climb. There is a strict dress code there and having travelled through Asia for almost three months there was no way we were going to be able to follow the rules.

  6. A Little Bit of Britain in Sri Lanka

    Blog: Canada's Adventure Couple - 15 February 2010

One of the coolest little towns we have been to in Asia is Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. What makes it unique is that it doesn’t look Asian at all. You feel as if you have stepped back in time to the 1940’s in England. The town is made up of Old Victorian Architecture bordering the race track and golf course. You can feel the influence of the British all around especially walking along the Grand Hotel Road.

  7. Misty Mountain Hop

Blog: Around The World On The Toilet - 19 January 2010

by Nick Since our last bus journey proved to be a little exhausting to say the least, we were happy to be departing Ella by train to Nuwara Eliya. The train journey from Ella is listed as one of Lonely Planet’s “must do” activities in Sri Lanka, so to make the most of it we opted for the observation car expecting fantastic views. The views did not disappoint but the cultural side of the train trip was not there so I spent most of the time in the second class area ...
