What to do and see in Nuwara Eliya and enroute to Coloumbo

Hi,

We are planning a 4 night 5 day trip to SL between the 10th and 14th December 2014.
This is the itinerary we have in mind. Pl tell us what to see and do in the places we plan to visit.

10th early morning ( 6.a.m.) - arrive Colombo. Proceed to Sigiriya. Enroute visit Pinnawale elephant camp. Is morning good time to visit the camp? Evening visit the Rock fortress. Stay overnight at Sigiriya.

11th - Depart to Kandy. Enroute visit Dambulla cave temple. Other than this we don't know what to…

Proof of onward travel at Colombo airport?

We're on the last bit of a year-long RTW and heading to Colombo shortly. We plan on staying a couple of weeks and haven't booked our flight out yet to keep things flexible (we'll fly to Bangkok in mid to late October.) The online visa approval states you must have an onward ticket, but has anyone been asked? Do they care?

(In 10 months of travel, nearly every government we've been states that you must have proof, but we've only been asked once, in Ecuador.)

Hakgala (nuwaru eliya) to Galle to Colombo

Hi,

I'm in Sri Lanka during the last week of October. Need some advice on the last leg of my trip.
Is there a quick way to get from Nuwaru Eliya to Galle? No taxi please, will work out real costly for me. Any direct luxury bus or something?

Secondly, how much would a taxi early morn (3am) from Galle to Colombo airport cost me? Any good budget hotels that you can recommend in Galle would help.

Thanks

Alinio

Solo Travel in Sri Lanka

Hi

Im planning to go to Sri Lanka solo before I meet my girlfriend in Indonesia over the Christmas period.
Im going to go for about 3 weeks, and just wanted to know what a good route/itnerary would consist of. Would i be able to fly into Colombo and then figure it out from there? What is the transport like?
Also what the accomodation situation is like, are there cheap hostels in abundance? How far ahead should i be booking.

Any Sri Lankan 'must dos'?

Cheers

Travel with an 18 month old

Hi all

We are looking to travel to Sri Lanka at the end of November / beginning is December with our 18 month old son. First question... Is this a crazy idea?

We are hoping to see sites in the cultural triangle and have some beach time. Would it be most cost effective to book flights and then source a driver and accommodation separately or would you advise booking a tour? We want plenty of things to hold the little mans interest and don't fancy too much time sitting on a beach. Any itineracy…
