I'm starting to go through my schedule and plan more specifics. Instead of spending my first full day in Colombo, I thought about taking a day trip to Galle by train, but it doesn't seem feasible. There seem to be 2 morning trains from Colombo to Galle, but to catch a train back to Colombo, the latest ones seem to be at 2:24 pm and 3:20 pm. Assuming I was able to catch the first train, I would arrive in Galle around 9:20, so I would only have about 5 hours I guess. Would that be worth it? I…
I am going to sri lanka for 2 weeks in september. I am flying in to and out of colombo and have done some research on places I would like to visit but I am unsure of what order to do them in and the best way to travel between them.
Any advice on this would be really helpful as I am trying to book accommodation in advance.
back to colombo.
I’ve put together a rough itinerary for an upcoming trip to Sri Lanka. I will be backpacking on a fairly tight budget. My travel style has changed over the years – I used to try to cram in as much as possible, but now I prefer to go at a much more leisurely pace (using a day to take in one main attraction/allow for travel). I haven’t booked anything yet (aside from the plane ticket) but prefer to stay at one place more than 1 night when possible.
Day 1 – Arrive in Sir Lanka at 10 pm. Thinking…

Day 9 and 10: Uda Walawe NP
Day 11, 12 and 13 beach at Tangalla
Day 14 Galle
Day 15 back to the airport
I am looking for reviews from persons with celiac disease in Sri Lanka who have bought and tried Organico Guru products that are labeled as gluten free and are available in country. Are these foods safe for persons with celiac disease who must medically avoid wheat, rye, and barley in their diet?
Also, for others traveling to Sri Lanka, be careful of foods that traditionally are gluten-free but may not be as wheat is sometimes added for a variety of reasons. This may happen in restaurants as…
My husband and I are planning a trip to Sri lanka this january.
We would love to do this by motorcycle (1 for 2p). After research I read a lot of bad advice because of the traffic.I know a car with driver is the best option, but we just love the freedom of a motorcycle..
We have a motorcycle at home so we are used to driving it. We've done it in Central America, but it's our first time in Asia. People who have done this? Or is it better to have some experience in other, more calme parts of…
I wanted to know if anyone will be in Sri Lanka During the month of July. This will be my first long term trip and I will be on my own. It would be great if anyone would like to join.
Hi. I am planning a trip to Sri Lanka on my own in August. It is my first long trip travelling on my own. I have read that there isn't many people travelling around Sri Lanka and obviously if i'm travelling on my own It would be nice to meet people! Could anyone let me know if it is easy to meet other travellers and is it safe to travel alone?
Hello I am looking for an express bus that travels between Ambalangoda and Dehiwala, Can you please tell me what bus should I choose to go fast as I can? Ambalangoda is located in Galle city and Dehiwala located in Colombo. I want to go to Dehiwala in about two hours starting from Ambalangoda. Is this possible and what option should I choose? Are there any express buses available?
