I was originally going to stay in Dambulla as a base for Sigirya and Polonnaruwa but the LP guide is pretty negative about Dambulla although I have seen forum users who like it. I need advice please. If I didn't stay in Dambulla, which of the other two is the better base?
Many thanks in advance.
Hello, does anybody know is there any private hospital in Tissa? Meaning "western style".
I've been searching the web but couldn't find any. My friends got an accident and asked me for a help.
I'll be appreciated for an answer.
Has anyone used a company called Wildlife Tours Sri Lanka? I'm thinking of going on their "big 5 tour". I believe they are a partner/subsidiary of Eco Team, who I have seen a fair amount of reviews for, but not specifically for Wildlife Tours Sri Lanka
We are heading up to Trinco on Monday and wondering if anyone wants to share a ride. Hoping to break the journey at Passikudah for swimming etc.

I am in Nuwara Eliya at the moment, i came in from Kandy in 2nd class on the train today and had to stand the whole way as the train was so packed. I believe it is Sri Lankan school holidays so it is busier than usual. Standing doesnt bother me it is just i could not enjoy the views. My understanding is the trip to Ella is very scenic and i know i wont be able to enjoy it / see anything on the train. I asked about first class tickets but was told there are none avaliable for over a week…
My boyfriend and I spent about a month in Sri Lanka in July, so I figured I'd share our itinerary and budget in case it might help anyone planning a trip!
We are budget travellers, so we avoid big restaurant, preferring local eateries, and used public transport as much as possible. Also, we've been traveling for 6 months so our pace is slower than a normal vacation.
Here's for the itinerary:
Negombo (2 nights) much cheaper than Colombo, but easy to access and closer to airport
