The Cathedral of Burgos: Breathtaking on the outside
Blog: Abroad in Spain: Travel Blog - 19 August 2009
Here in Burgos, we are lucky enough to have a Gothic-style cathedral known as the “Cathedral of Burgos” (unique name, right?). Construction on the cathedral began way back in the year 1221 and the marvelous building has been standing ever since then. As far as Spanish cathedrals go, this one is actually a bit on the famous [...]

Great Catalan food in Barcelona on the cheap
Blog: Barcelona travel and culture - 18 August 2009
There are so many places to eat in Barcelona but finding a good place which serves Catalan and which serves food at a price which most people can also afford, is not always easy.My wife and I though got lucky on the weekend and we can highly recommend the interestingly named 'Madrid, Barcelona' restaurant, located on Arago 282 Barcelona. The location is east to get to. You can walk there within 15 minutes from the top of Las Ramblas and the Paseo de Gracia subway station is within 5 minutes walk.

Blog: Abroad in Spain: Travel Blog - 4 August 2009
Here’s a pretty cool idea that the Spanish Government came up with to both cut back on car pollution and keep people healthy at the same time: bicycle renting. Basically, bike “docking stations” like the one pictured above are starting to crop up all over Spanish cities. The idea is that a user can go to [...]

“Grease” lives on in Spain
Blog: Abroad in Spain: Travel Blog - 22 July 2009
Just a couple of weeks ago, I was in a dance club in Burgos and suddenly the DJ began to blast that famous song sung by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in the film “Grease” — you know, the one whose lyrics say ”you’re the one that I want.” When I first heard the song come on, I couldn’t figure out why [...]
