Bar restaurants in Spain

  1. A

    Bodegas Castañeda

An institution among locals and tourists alike, this buzzing bar doles out hearty portions of food (try a hot or cold tabla, or platter; a half order, €6, is ample for two) and dispenses drinks from big casks mounted in the walls. The best choice is a lively, herbaceous vermut (vermouth) topped with soda. Don’t confuse this place with Antigua Bodega Castañeda around the corner, which is not as enticing.

  2. Blue Bar

Blue Bar is a long-established Formentera favourite that lback in the tie-dye '60's legend says even played host to those hippies par exellence Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix. Today it continues to offer good seafood, rice dishes and spadefuls of buen rollito (good vibes). At the south’s chill-out bar par excellence, everything is blue – seats, sunshades, tables, loos and walls. Why, they even mix a blue Curacao-based cocktail! Take the sandy track at Km8.

  5. C

    Mushotoku Cafe

Tiny, black-walled and laid-back funky, Mushotoku is a mellow place to nurse your drink. On Friday and Saturday a DJ spins minimalist techno tunes and although there’s no real space to dance, this place is all about dancing on the inside.

  6. D

    La Palmera

Tucked away in the narrow lanes of Conde Duque, this tiny place is covered in blue and yellow tiles and draws an artsy crowd that comes to sit a while at the small wooden tables and nurse a drink or two. The atmosphere is very low-key.

  7. Bar Es Moll

Bar Es Moll, a basic place with plastic tables and chairs, serves tapas and portions of fresh sardines, mussels and prawns. Its charm is its position, above the jetty where local fishing boats dock.

  8. Tiburón

Tiburón is a fun beach tavern that tends to attract more locals for fish, salads, sangria and, of course, sunsets.
