  1. Cuesta De Moyano Bookstalls

Madrid's answer to the booksellers that line the Seine in Paris, these second-hand bookstalls are an enduring city landmark. Most titles are in Spanish, but there's a handful of offerings in other languages. While major works are completed along the narrow Calle de Claudio Moyano, most stalls have temporarily moved around the corner to the Paseo del Prado.

  2. Fortunata - La Tienda de Madrid

For quality Spanish souvenirs and books about Madrid (mostly in Spanish), Fortunata is a cut above most souvenir shops in the city centre. There's very little of the mass-produced tourist kitsch on offer here and there's plenty to turn your head.
