Just before Malasaña spills over into the seedy backside of Gran Vía, BarCo is an outstanding live venue with jazz, flamenco (Sunday at 9pm), Latin music (Brazilian music is the focus from 11pm Thursday), funk, rock or blues; it’s also the headquarters for Madrid’s School of Creative Music. Concerts start at 11pm and there’s room to dance if the mood takes you. There’s a fantastic jazz jam session from 12.30am every second Sunday.
