Surely this description must have been written by the hotel itself?

By recommendation of the Lonely Planet guide book my family and I visited Parador de Granada for lunch on Sunday July 12th. The view was magnificent but the service and food was the worst I have ever encountered in Spain. Considering this, also the price was horrible. 12 Euros for a sandwich consisting of only bread and a piece of meat. Absolutely nothing else.

I have travelled many times in Spain and I know that in general it is very differently. Good food and reasonable prices. This also goes for most places in Granada.

In short the restaurant was half empty and still the three waiters were busy with anythging but the guests. I had to ask for a table. I had to ask for a menu. I had to ask for the table to be cleaned. This was only done reluctantly and not completely. Then the food was served on an dirty table and I had to ask for the table to be completely cleaned and wiped of. This was again done reluctantly and after 5 minuttes and then the food (the recommended bocadillos) were cold.

All the way though the waiter was immensely rude. After (as it was very diffecult to get the attention of the waiters) finishing our lunch we complained that the veal in my wifes sandwich was raw and not cooked. Half of it was left on the plate and visibly raw. The waiter denied this though and this was so bizarre that the situation turned funny. The waiter looked at at red piece of meat and claimed it was well done. Very funny! We did not ask the money back, just to let our voice heard.

We speak very good Spanish so there is no excuse to be found in a language mix-up.

Visit Alhambra. It is magic, impressive and beautiful all the way through. But don't have food at the Paradore de Granada. It is terrible and the view can be had in many other - better and cheaper - places.
