Gay Club entertainment in Spain

  1. A

    Anfora

Seemingly dug out of walls of rock, this is probably the best known gay dance haunt high up D'Alt Vila.

  2. B

    Arena Madre

Popular with a hot young crowd, Arena Madre is one of the top clubs in town for boys seeking boys. Keep an eye out for the striptease shows on Mondays and drag queens on Wednesdays, along with the usual combination of disco and Latin music to get those butts moving. Heteros are welcome but a minority.

  3. C

    La Base

This heavy, heated gay bar and club has something for just about everyone: nude nights, rude nights, leather cruising evenings and dark rooms. There’s even music!

  4. D

    Cangrejo

This altar to kitsch, a dingy dance hall that has transgressed since the 1920s, is run by the luminous underground cabaret figure of Carmen Mairena and exudes a gorgeously tacky feel, especially with the midnight drag shows on Friday and Saturday. Due to its popularity with tourists, getting in is all but impossible unless you turn up early.

    Dboy

With pink laser lights and dense crowds of fit young lads, this is one of the big dance-club locations on a Saturday night. Electronic music dominates the dance nights here and, in spite of the 6am finish, for many this is only the start of the ‘evening’. You need to look your gorgeous best to get in past the selective doormen.

    Metro

Metro attracts a casual gay crowd with its two dance floors, three bars and very dark room. Keep an eye out for shows and parties, which can range from parades of models to bingo nights (on Thursday nights, with sometimes-interesting prizes). On Wednesday nights there’s a live sex show.
