I found some great links in other posts re traveling to Barcelona with kids - my questions are:
Is it convenient, as a day trip, to get to a good kid swimming beach from the city centre or better to find accommodations close to the beach (and if so, what do you recommend).
I see listed : La Barceloneta or any sandy beaches stretching northeast from the Port Olímpic marina." - Are there public washrooms and change rooms at the beaches?
We like to stay in hostels so our kids get a good…
My partner and I are travelling to Spain for 3 weeks (21 nights) late September-mid October. It is our honeymoon. I have the LP and RG books but would like some personal experience on what I have researched.
About us: We would like a combination of romance and true exploration. We enjoy food/wine and want to ensure we have some downtime but also really want to explore the history, architecture and art. My partner is an amateur photographer. We have tried to narrow down to 3…
I am interested in doing the overnight hike suggested in Lonely Planet Span (page 680 in 2014 edition). LP suggests staying at the Cortijo de la Meseta refugio.
On page 49 LP suggests booking ahead, presumably for refugios. On page 50 it says refugios are first come first served. So I'm confused.
I tried looking up Cortijo de la Meseta refugio via Google and could not find it.
- Do I need to book beds in a refugio?
- How do I find out how to do so for a particular refugio - in particular…
I'm trying to isolate down a place to spend between one and two months in southern Spain in the February / March timeframe.
Basically we're looking for a city big enough to do some slow exploration over that amount of time, while taking Spanish language classes. Preferably a place where walking and biking are good ways to get around. We're in our 50s and like to spend time wandering in the areas where people live and work, and we'll rent an apartment rather than a hotel. Partying nightlife…
So I just - on a whim-ish - booked flights to
Mallorca 14-20 June for myself and my son.
Have been having a search around for accommodation and just cannot decide where is best. Want to be close to a nice beach where we can bob around happily and safely. Don't want to be in a very touristy resort. Want to be close to shops and restaurants. Additionally we will hire a car and be on a fairly tight budget.
Can't decide whether to stay in Palma, and take trips out from there. Stay somewhere like Cala…
Okay, I have searched high and low on the internet before posting to make sure my question has not been answered, and nothing is giving me what I want!
My husband and I have 11 full days (arriving in Bilboa Sunday and leaving the following Tuesday, in July) to spend in the Basque Country with zero plans yet and I'm overwhelmed because all of it is so very wonderful! Our only plans thus far are a Saturday lunch at Akelare and a Thursday dinner at Mugaritz. So we're pretty set on Thursday-Sunday…
Am looking to rent a car in the same place we did last year in Malaga. Only problem was they made us buy insurance through them though I had already bought one separately (and much cheaper) through another company. They said that was because I had paid for the car rental with a debit rather than a credit card.. I am looking at that bill from last year and see a figure for what I presume to be insurance but am not sure. Could someone tell me what " SEG. TOTAL (RESTO DE)" means? That…
I'll be staying 3-4 days in Madrid in early June before meeting friends in the south of Spain. I was looking for a fun, possibly artistic/bohemian neighborhood to stay. Also, I'm told there is a high speed train that goes to Seville. Does anyone have information on how to get a ticket?
I'm landing in Bilbao at the beginning of June (day 1). My plan is to spend a night there (or maybe), then two nights in San Sebastian. 5 days after that (day 8) I have to be in Barcelona, and I'd like to spend those 5 days exploring something else. A friend has suggested maybe staying longer in San Sebastian and doing day trips to san juan de luz, biarritz, and hondarribia. I'm thinking maybe I'll just stay in one of those places instead.
Some forums also mention Zaragoza.
My trip planning for Spain is beginning to take shape, as I've finally narrowed down my choices to a particular region of the country. I will be flying into Madrid around mid-July, and plan on staying there a couple of nights. It's not my favorite, but I will be visiting a friend there and figured I'd check out a few spots there I've never been to. The only other guaranteed destination is Cáceres for a wedding (at the end of my trip) - the reason why I'm traveling to Spain in the…
