Lonely Planet review for Cafè Zurich

It doesn’t have the atmosphere of the cafe of the same name that once occupied this prime spot, but not even the hardest of hearts can deny the location is impeccable. Pull up an outdoor pew for the human circus that is Plaça de Catalunya, or huddle over a paper on the mezzanine on a winter’s day. In summer it stays open as late as 1am.

An average cafe in a popular location

    foxinthesnow does not recommend this,

It's an average cafe with brisk service from the waiters. Overpriced because of the location. Just stand on the corner next to the entrance to the Metro and take in the atmosphere from there instead.

    Good for: propinas

Great spot to relax between Gaudi strolls.

If you don't mind the most expensive Coca Cola of your life - right up there with the Flor in Paris - then just enjoy people watching.

    Good for: a rest

    Not what we had hoped

    shanezzz recommends this,

After scanning the guide books for places to go, this cafe stood out as a must-see. Perhaps it was the time of day - lunchtime, but we found it lacked the character we had gotten used to in the back street bars. The open, canteen-like area was a bit of a let down. The gruff waiter did his job well, get us out as quick as he could. And in doing so, did us a favour, so we could find the cafes of Barcelona we always heard of. This isn't one of them.

    Good for: Budget Travellers, Groups

Belvedere to Barcelona's day to day life

    mrlime recommends this,

This is a nice spot to sit and relax, enjoying the quotidian life of Barcelona, at the sound of quality artists playing some good live music. Usually it's crowded but, with some luck, you will find a table to sit with some friends. It has a big esplanade.

Good for: Romance, atmosphere, food, Groups, Solo Travellers, Families
