I had a great 2 week experience at International House in Barcelona. They set up a Homestay accommodation which was small and basic but adequate and very inexpensive for such a cosmopolitan city. The intensive Spanish was excellent - 4 hours per day with motivated, energetic teachers plus an afternoon activity 3 days of the week at no extra charge ( usually a tour of some part of the city or a point of cultural or historic importance with all the commentary in Spanish ). We were all tested the first morning and placed in appropriate level classes of 5 to 10 students each. Each 2 weeks there is an assessment to decide which class students should progress to. A number of people took only a one or two week course. I am older ( 50's ) and many ( but not all ) of my classmates were university students; we were from the four corners of the globe. The city of Barcelona is just stunning and there are interesting sights in the city, great beaches, and day trips one can do on the weekend ( which the school also sets up ). Well organized, great value, perfect location and high quality course and teachers. I highly recommend this program.
