Best location for accommodation in Madrid

I'll be in Madrid mid-June 2015 after doing Camino Frances. Before I start looking for accommodation, can you help me pick an area that I would find somewhat safe, accessible to all I would want to see (which would be as much as possible). I'll be solo, woman in late 60s but have travelled several times on my own before. I'll probably start looking on AIRBNB unless someone can highly recommend safe, cheap accommodation. I don't want a hostel/dorm as I will be doing plenty of that on my…

Malaga, Granada, Seville.

Hi everyone,

We're headed for Andalucia for 2 weeks in mid January. Landing in Malaga, heading to see Seville and Granada.

We usually like to visit about one place per week (so that we can get to know the local area and people) and we typically stay in hostels because they're a great source for local knowledge.

Here's what we'd like to do, and I hoped some of you could help steer us.

We're landing in Malaga and plan to head immediately up to Seville for about 4 nights. After this our…

andalucia in march 2015

Hello,

I 'm going to andalucia for 2 weeks in March, and we'll be there a week before easter. We are not really interested in see the processions (because of the crowds, hotels expenses). We are planning to visit Seville, Cordoba, Malaga and Granada. Anyone knows if it will be busy a week before semana santa? Also, any possible hiking in sierra nevada at this time of the year?

Thank you in advance

Where To Buy Football Shirt in Madrid?

Hi,

I am a football jersey collector and I am flying to Madrid next year. I will be staying for 4 days.
I would like to ask where is the place or shop to buy football shirts in the city? I mean for club except Real Madrid and Barcelona, but more to teams like Espanyol, Athletic Bilbao, Cordoba etc - which I think it will be hard to find outside of Spain.

If anyone has the information or Madrid residence who can help me, please let me know.
Thank you/muchas gracias.

Day Tours from Barcelona

I am visiting Barcelona from Jan 1 to Jan 8.

Can anyone help me with the name of reliable tour operators from Barcelona? I checked with one provider for Montserrat and Cava, and was told it would be 380 EUR for 2 adults, and 2 toddlers(<5 years).

Would be a great help if one could point to:

Travel Operators who do private tours. Suggestions for places to visit on a day trip other than Girona, Montserrat and Andorra?

Toledo day trip vs. staying 1-2 nights

Hola,
I'm arriving in MAD tomorrow then headed to Granada probably over the weekend.

I could squeeze in a 1-2 day stop in Toledo, probably Fri eve-Saturday with the added bonus of the once/week ALSA bus direct from Toledo to Granada.

Other option is a day trip round trip from MAD as I vaguely recall something significant in Toledo on Thursdays.

Any advice appreciated.

Hiking the Vias Verdes rail trails in Spain

In May 2012 we had an amazing time hiking in Catalonia on the rails-to-trails system known as the Vías Verdes. We took our cue from this 2011 article in the New York Times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/11/travel/in-spain-hiking-along-the-volcanoes-of-catalonia.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

We couldn't have been more pleased. The scenery was a gorgeous mix of woods and farmland, the generally level route on disused rail lines was perfect for our old knees, and the towns were just far enough…

What is going on the week end of the 20th of March in Madrid?

I was planning a long week end to Madrid on the 20th of March but hotels are really expensive compared to the week end before or after (which I can't do!). I've found one anyway but is there a big sporting event or something? I'd rather not go if there is.

Also I'm a bit confused with trains. I'm spending a night in Barcelona first to see some friends and was planning on taking the train, but having checked on Loco2, while this week end is not available on sale yet, trains earlier in March…
