Itinerary

Day 1 Victoria Falls
The tour starts at 15:00hrs on Day 1 with a group meeting in the foyer of A’Zambezi River Lodge. Please make your own way to the lodge; alternatively, airport transfers can be arranged in advance (additional cost applies). The remainder of the afternoon is free to relax or view Victoria Falls - or “Moisi-oa-Tunya” (Smoke that Thunders) - one of the most revered and spectacular sights in Africa. Overnight on the banks of the Zambezi river at A’Zambezi River Lodge (or similar accommodation).
Day 2 Victoria Falls
Today is spent at leisure, based in Victoria Falls, to browse the local markets, experience the many optional activities on offer including white water rafting, bungi jumping, microlighting/ airplane or helicopter flights over the Falls, rhino walks, elephant back safaris, and to visit the actual Falls (own expense) - without doubt one of the greatest and most spectacular sights in Africa . Overnight A’Zambezi River Lodge (or similar).
Day 3 to 4 Hwange National Park
Travelling through Zimbabwe we arrive around midday to Hwange National Park. We enjoy a late afternoon game drive in open 4x4 vehicles in search of the many wild animals inhabiting the area. The following morning we visit a Wild Dog Conservancy and also a local school giving us the opportunity of interacting with the local population. The afternoon we enjoy another game drive. Overnight Sikumi Tree Lodge (or similar).
Day 5 Makgadikgadi Pans
Entering Botswana we travel to our lodge located on the edge of the vast Makgadikgadi Pans. Late afternoon we enter the Park and drive to the edge of the Pans where we enjoy a magnificent sunset (weather dependant). Overnight Nata Lodge (or similar).
Day 6 to 7 Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta is the world's largest inland delta covering an area of approximately 15000 square kilometres. It is maintained by seasonal flooding of the Okavango River and its tributaries and is an incredibly special place. The floodplains and islands of this unique natural environment provide a myriad of options for exploring and observing wildlife at ground level. We are totally immersed in the wilderness, surrounded by the calls of nature and a stunningly beautiful landscape. We arrive in Maun midday and fly by light aircraft into the Okavango delta. This 20 minute scenic flight gives an amazing aerial view of the Delta. The next 2 days are spent with a guide meandering along the channels by either mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) or boat and also roaming on foot in search of wildlife. Early morning and late afternoon excursions take advantage of the natural beauty on offer. Relax in the evenings listening to the many sounds of the African bush while the last light of day lingers in exquisite sunsets. Our camp is situated in the heart of this untouched and pristine wilderness area. Overnight at Moremi Crossing (or similar). *Please note that World Expeditions does not run the mokoro trip in the Delta and strongly advises against participation on this because of safety concerns, namely the proximity on the river to dangerous wildlife, particularly the hippopotamus. If you choose to undertake this activity with other local contractors, you do so against our advice and entirely at your own risk.
Day 8 Chobe River to Kasane
This morning we depart the Delta with a 1½-hour scenic flight to Kasane, on the edge of Chobe National Park. Like the Delta, Chobe is famous for its beautiful scenery, magnificent sunsets and abundance of wildlife and birdlife. It has its own feel, however, and is spectacular in a different way. Our lodge is situated on the banks of the Chobe River and will be our base for 2 nights. Overnight Chobe Safari Lodge (or similar).
Day 9 Chobe National Park
Chobe is the second largest national park in Botswana and is famous for its huge elephant population.Today is spent on an early morning game drive in Chobe National Park and a sunset game viewing boat cruise on the Chobe River where we have opportunity to get close to riverine creatures such as crocodiles and hippos. The distinctive call of the African Fish Eagle is also prominent and regular sightings of this magnificent raptor are a real treat. Overnight Chobe Safari Lodge (or similar).
Day 10 In Victoria Falls, trip concludes
After breakfast we depart Botswana and re-enter Zimbabwe, where the trip concludes at A'Zambezi Lodge. Airport transfers can be arranged in advance (additional cost applies) as can additional nights in Victoria Falls (additional cost applies). Note: please do not book onward flights before 12:00 noon out of Victoria Falls airport
