Will be traveling to Juba for about a month in August. I have always taken doxycycline when in malarial areas, but the prices in the US are quite high, especially without prescription insurance coverage.

Last time I was in Kenya, I bought doxy very cheaply in Nairobi. Is it similarly available from chemists in Juba? I think in Nairobi I paid the US equivalent of $0.05 a pill.

Thanks!

Embassy in Khartoum in March 2016 shifted responsibility to the Consulate (but will use both words to mean same thing)

Summarizing the main points. I could also present this in conversation form as it happened

Embassy is
1. opaque / not transparent
(a) no website
(b) no list on paper at Embassy of i. requirements ii. processing time iii. visa price
They charge you whatever they want , you have no item to pint to when they cheat / over-charge you

  1. receipt is for a lower amount…

Wikitravel (maybe wrong / out-dated) says using credit cards on-line << ... can cause problems, as some merchants (especially American ones) will pick up your Sudanese IP address, and refuse to do business with you. >> and <<Amex may cancel your card>>

  1. Have you used your credit card for on-line purchases whilst in SOUTH Sudan? if not, which websites did not allow?
  2. Has your card been blocked or canceled because IP-address shows South Sudan?

(but if buying ticket with Kenya/Rwanda/etc airline…

So, has anyone obtained the South Sudan visa in Khartoum?
What is street address? phone? email? visa cost? visa processing time?

Google searches produced the usual pay-for Visa--Service-Providers who have WRONG info (thus does not inspire using their Visa service ... since they don't have correct info how will they do the job? and if they intentionally put wrong info so people get frustrated to use their services, welll.... NO thanks).
Email that i found in google searches was southsudanemb

Dear friends!

Please find below some information from my very recent (February 29 th to March 4 th, 2016) trip to South Sudan.

• Visa: Me and my friend traveled on Swedish passports and arranged our visa through the South Sudanese embassy in Norway who granted us a 30 day single entry tourist visa. The procedure was straightforward although they were a bit reluctant to let go of the passports until very close to our departure. The cost was about 100 USD plus postage. Apart from the visa form…

Hey Everybody,

I maybe taking a job as a aid worker in Akobo in South Sudan. I am also an amateur photographer, and I was hoping to bring my camera equipment to take some photos while i'm in the country.

Unfortunately, I've been hearing a lot of stories from tourist saying that taking photos is frowned upon by the local people, and you could even get arrested, especially if you don't have a Photo Permit. So I wanted to get a perspective from someone whose been there.

The last thing I want to…

Dear friends!

I'm a Swedish doctor trying to visit all the countries in the world within my life span. Have been to 166 this far. Only 29 more to go!

Now, I plan to visit South Sudan in February or March (2016) for about a week and since that country is not very well covered by guide books and rarely visited by tourists, save the hard core globetrotter, I decided to try this forum to see what info I can get by.

I'm either flying into and out of Juba or coming in overland from Uganda and…

Hi travelers,

Im planning to visit South Sudan for either a few days or only a footstep into the country.

Does anybody know if I can apply for a visa in Uganda?
If yes, how much does it cost and how long takes the process?

I was doing lots of research and was reading that busses go from Uganda to Juba. Im just not sure about the current security situation. Does anybody has better information how it is at the moment?

Any kind of information would be very helpful.
Cheers and thanks a lot for…
