  1. Almonds in my Hot Chocolate – Seoul’s ‘Coffee Mill’

Blog: The Art of Slow Travel - 22 July 2010

It’s been more than a year since I came back from a one-month long trip to South Korea, and I am still flooded with a thousand fond memories every time I think about it, which is often, if you care to know. Till this day, I become slightly upset when I hear people saying that Seoul is [...]

  2. The Art of Eating

Blog: See Simi Travel Blog - 5 July 2010

Having enjoyed many meals alone while on the road, I like to watch people eat. Not what they are eating really, but what they are doing while they eat. This often makes me compare things to Montreal, my hometown and a real “foodie” city. At home we are all chefs, or so we pretend to be when we dine in. Meals are planned ahead of time, researched on the Internet. We watch cooking shows on a network entirely dedicated to food. Our magazines and weekend newspapers include a section on dining.

  6. Fashion Bulletin: Match making in Incheon Airport, Korea

Blog: The Saturation Point of Bells - 25 April 2010

The first instance was while I was still wandering the bewilderingly indistinguishable halls of the Incheon Airport, dazed after the first 10 hour flight, and walking to stay awake until I got on the second. There they were: young, be-jeaned, and both wearing black zip-up hoodies.

  9. What I love about Seoul: Its Green spaces

Blog: The Art of Slow Travel - 9 April 2010

Seoul is a wild city. Its green spaces are not like the perfectly manicured royal parks of London, built when the city was already alive and fuming. Seoulite parks make it clear that they were there first (even though this may or may not be true), and that the city was subsequently built around them. [...]

Blog: The Art of Slow Travel - 3 April 2010

Original post, February 12 2009 It is my belief that there are very few sounds as beautiful as that of a monk’s chanting. Sheltered amongst the urban jungle of Seoul skyscrapers, Bong-eunsa temple is a gem amongst a sea of traffic, and the sound of chanting drifting a few metres away from a busy road was [...]

  14. Guesthouse Korea (Accommodation)

Blog: The Art of Slow Travel - 3 April 2010

Before booking a double room for 30 days at Guesthouse Korea in Seoul, I had browsed through its home page and read a few reviews. I therefore already knew that the decor in the room would be basic, but I couldn’t really comment on that (and neither should you), considering the rock bottom prices. While [...]
