Bonjuk: A Clean Restaurant With Vegetarian Options
teslgoddess recommends this,
Seoul is constantly evolving and restaurants come and go but Bonjuk will always be around. This is a chain of traditional porridge restaurants and there is one in almost every neighborhood in Seoul.
The outside is always maroon in color and it says "Bonjuk" in both English and Korean. These places are always clean , the ladies friendly and the chairs are soft and comfortable (even by western standards). The temperature inside is always cold in the summer and warm in the winter. The food is consistently good and tastes the same at all the restaurants.
There are several vegetarian options, my favorite is the Pumpkin Soup; there is also the bean and sesame soup. The menu is in English and Korean and prices are under 10,000 won. Each large and steaming hot bowl of soup comes with two sides of Kim-chi, shreds of salty (yummy) beef, and a cold dish of sweet and sour water with radish in it (which is sooooo much better tasting than it sounds). The side dishes are refillable for free and at the end of your meal you are served a small cup of cold sweet tea, which is the perfect finish to a lovely meal. All Bonjuk restaurants have take out available, but generally do not deliver.
I highly recommend trying Bonjuk, you won't be dissapointed.
