Itinerary
Days 1-2 La Paz
Learn about Bolivia's controversial botanical history at the Coca Museum. At night, head out to one of La Paz's busy restaurant precincts for some fine Latin American fare.
Day 3 Challapata
Travel to the sleepy country town of Challapata where we spend the night.
Day 4 Livichuco
Explore the small Andean village of Livichuco, a remote Bolivian retreat that few tourists are lucky enough to experience. Be welcomed into the Aymara community and receive an introduction to their Qaqachaqa culture.
Day 5 Potosi
Explore the tin mining city of Potosi and perhaps take an optional tour through a working mine.
Days 6-7 Uyuni/Salar de Uyuni
Visit Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat, for an astonishing adventure. During the dry season the salar forms a blinding blanket of white; however, when wet it acts as a giant mirror, reflecting the sky and surrounding volcanoes. Continue across the Bolivian altiplano past red lakes and steaming volcanoes.
Day 8 Bolivian Altiplano
Cross the spectacular Bolivian altiplano, past red lakes and steaming volcanoes. Characterised by adventurous routes through challenging terrain, get set for an unforgettable experience.
Day 9 San Pedro de Atacama
Depart Bolivia and travel across the border into Chile, camping at one of the world's best places for stargazing. By day, visit the surreal lunar landscape of Valle de la Luna.
Days 10-12 Salta
Skip across the border again, this time into Argentina. Wander the elegant streets of Salta city and perhaps take the cable car to the top of Cerro San Bernardo - the view of the surrounding mountains is spectacular.
Day 13 Cafayte
Nestled in a picturesque valley in the Andean foothills, Cafayate is a welcomed retreat. Learn about local wine production during an optional vineyard tour and take a walk through the surrounding countryside.
Day 14 Quilmes
Drive through the beautiful Argentinean landscape to the Tucuman province. Camp near the ancient Quilmes Ruins.
Days 15-17 Estancia Stay
Pitch a tent on a working cattle farm and experience traditional Argentine hospitality. Enjoy a famous asado barbecue washed down with some local red wines. Why not spend time exploring the vast pampas on horseback or maybe stop by a local school to meet the kids.
Days 18-19 Cordoba
Travel to Cordoba and admire the finest colonial architecture in Argentina. Enjoy losing time along the scenic streets of this vibrant university city.
Days 19-21 Buenos Aires
From tango classes to football games, it's impossible to resist the passion and spirit of Argentina's capital. Attractions are many and varied, from a visit to Recoleta Cemetery to see Eva Peron's tombstone or a shopping spree in the funky Palermo Soho neighbourhood.
