Those interested in improving their volleyball game, or just meeting some Cariocas, should pay a visit to Pelé de Ipanema. Pelé, who speaks English, has been hosting volleyball classes for over 10 years. Lessons range from one to two hours. Look for his large Brazilian flag on the beach near Rua Garcia D'Ávila. Pelé's students are a mix of Cariocas and expats, who then meet for games after honing the fundamentals.
