Getting there & around

Intercape (0861-287 287; www.intercape.co.za) has a service to Jo’burg (US$43, 14½ hours, daily). Otherwise you can take a Translux bus (021-449 3333; www.translux.co.za) to Mossel Bay (US$7, one hour, daily) and from there you can get to multiple destinations.

The Baz Bus stops at George, from where you can arrange a transfer to Oudtshoorn with Backpackers’ Paradise (US$4.70).

Every Saturday the Southern Cross train leaves for Cape Town at 5pm.
