We are travelling from Namibia to Cape Town middle of august, thinking of making a stop to enjoy the flowers.
Can anybody, please, tell if it would be possible to do as a day stopover, coming on the bus?
I am looking at Goegap or Namaqua. Best one?
Can you do this renting a car or a bike locally??
Any answer most welcome!
As we will be traveling to South Africa and would like a pre-paid data SIM (3G) card so that we can access internet.
Any suggestions to which SIM card provider I should use and from I can get it?
Any advice would be welcome!
I'm trying to fly from Kruger (HDS) to East London after a safari on Saturday 9/17. It will be about lunch time. It doesn't seem feasible, as the flights are via Johannesburg, & some have hours of layover (or worse) in JNB. My plan:
----take Ashton shuttle from Kruger back to JNB on the 17th & arrive at 6:00 pm., then get picked up by my B & B, & spend the night, leaving on the 18th in the a.m. for my flight to E. London. It all seems rather roundabout & exhausting.
Any flights from Kruger to…
My name is Amanda and I'm 23 years old from Sweden. I'm about to go visit my friend who's studying in a small village about 2 hrs from Johannesburg. We both really want to see South Africa when there so we would love to do a road trip from the Johannesburg area to Cape town around the 3 or 4th of July. The problem is that I won't have time to make my drivers license international and my friend doesn't have a license, therefore I'm posting here to see if there might be one or two cool…
Should you need a short term extension of the three months' visa you get at the airport I strongly advise to apply directly at VFS Global, the compulsory gate keeper of the South African Department of Home Affairs with offices in all major cities. I do not advise to make use of the additional services of South African Migration International (SAMI) in Cape Town as they are unreliable and inefficient. Instead of facilitating my application they delayed it for seven weeks. I never got the…
Wilderness beach House in Wilderness or Wild Spirit Backpacker's Lodge in Nature's Valley? Should I stay at both? Other ideas? Looking for input from folks who have actually stayed there. Solo female traveler. Are the accommodations rough or moderately comfortable? Isolated? They both sound like a lot of fun.
I am currently in South Africa since 5 months and I am planning last road trip of 15 days with a friend before leave, in Kwazulu Natal, and Cape Town. Unfortunately, I have the impression that it is too short for what I plan to do.
Have you got advice if I am doing something not really interesting, please ?

My partner and another couple and I will be visiting S.A. for about three weeks, starting in mid-August. After five nights in CT, we will drive to Durban to catch a flight to Vic Falls, seven days later. We are thinking of setting off Sunday morning, stopping at Cango Caves. We prefer to avoid the terribly touristy things(which Cango may be, and we are wondering whether to simply pass thru, after a quick exploration. Our next destination would be Neue Bethesda, where we plan to stay a night…
We are flying out to Kenya this weekend and at the end of our trip in August will get to stay at Cape Town for around 4.5 days. If you could advise on the following queries that would be great:
- Is it possible advise on a central / safe location to stay for day trips? Particular hotel recommendation would be even better.
- What sightseeing could be covered comfortably in 4.5 days? We are interested in history, outdoor / hikes, drives, photography etc. etc. A friend from Cape Town…
